2016 G's and Pebble

I would have bought the original pebble with the app pre-loaded onto it. I have no intention for using it for anything other than with the boat. I couldn't care less if it worked with my phone.

On the App Store which version of pebble do you use. I really don't want to buy the app if the only thing I will use the Pebble for is my 16 G23?
Or do I get the app per the quick start guide, from the Pebble web site?

I don't know. I do know that the Pebble Classic will work with the 2017's using the latest and greatest firmware.

On a 2016 you CANNOT use the latest and greatest firmware. You must use version 2.8.1 AND use the "old version" of the app. See attached.

No. None of them do. Ballast Shift is not implemented in the NSS app.

I'm not sure I understand the question. It comes down to which year model boat you have. The 2017 boats can work with the latest and greatest Pebble firmware (and latest version of the Pebble app). The 2016 boats require the older version of the firmware AND the older version of the Pebble app.

Either way, the Pebble watch then runs the NSS app.
