2016 G's and Pebble

The issue with the watch firmware version has to do with the HARDWARE within the LINC system, so yes, the 2016 G-series boats will never be able to use the updated firmware on the watch.

The issue is resolved with the 2017 LINC system, and anyone with 2017+ boats can use the latest watch firmware.

Jeff, Since the new 2017 LINK system has been updated to use the updated Pebble firmware, does that mean that the new Pebble 2 will be able to be used?

NautiqueJeff , have you heard from the factory as to whether or not they will be able to update the 2016 G 23's Linc system so that surf select can be compatible with all pebble watches beyond the Pebble Watch classic?

NautiqueJeff , I realized I asked the same question several months ago. But I'm hoping the factory has a way to update the 2016 G's because 3-4 years down the road, when your Pebble Classic breaks, they may not make that watch anymore, meaning Surf Select is useless, except for using the big, ugly remote box for switching from the water. Any hope that Correct Craft has given this some thought?

sarasetp Well, they already aren't making that watch anymore. Pebble is no more. They were bought out by FitBit, and FitBit has no intention of continuing to make ANY Pebble products.

Nautique is aware of the issue, and all they have said so far is that they have a plan, and that their solution is going to be great. They haven't released any more datails yet.

All of that being said, I wouldn't look for Nautique to do any further development with the Pebble platform.

Controling the stereo from the watch will probably be the most used feature for me.

I use my apple watch 2 and it controls my iPhone for music .

For heavens sake will someone in the know PLEASE post a simple Amazon part number/description for the correct Pebble watch with the rubber wrist band and the one that out of the box will be the correct version with no updates needed!!! Please!!!! This will solve this debate/discussion once and for all. It's obvious that some of us(*me included) have bought the wrong one.

Nobody can do that. Pebble watch is done. All of their I.P. and assets were bought by FitBit who has no intention of continuing the product line. There are no more Pebble watches unless you buy one used.

When you pull up Amazon and plug in "original Pebble watch" some do pop up. Are those not new/the correct ones?

Maybe. Most likely it's vendors with some left in stock trying to get rid of them. Does it really matter at this point? If you buy a Pebble watch, even if it's "new in box" there is NO WARRANTY. In addition, there is NO SUPPORT whatsoever. If it dies after 2 days, tough. If it doesn't work the way it should and you need technical support, too bad.

If you really want one, you can potentially find the right one and perhaps one of the unofficial Pebble websites that's still around can get you the NSS app and help you get it going.

Can't they make an app in iTunes that works on the Apple Watch for this? Seems like it would be easy to do.

I was hoping for that, but even the new Apple watches are not recommended for water activities where there could be high-speed impact with water, so I don't think they're going in that direction. Also, since the Apple Watch is touchscreen, it won't work well in water.

I bought mine last year on ebay for 30 bucks. It works fine with the boat and I followed the steps to downgrade firmware. I'm hoping Nautique's solution is sweet. Until then, I will rock my used ebay pebble
