Happy to report that Arizona Action Water Sports and Tim the service manager took care of my shaft issue. Dropped it off on a Tuesday and it was ready the following Thursday afternoon. Aside from the drive and the issue in the first place I could not be happier and feel good that not only did they take care of it they understood that a quick turnaround was important to me.

Looks like I get to join the crew of unhappy broken shaft members. 2016 G23 450 HP less than 50 hours. Boat began to shake and then no power forward or back. Had to be towed in and realized why it wouldn't go forward or reverse once on the trailer. For as much money as these boats cost we should not be having to deal with this headache.

Brand new 2017 G23 with 80 Hrs on it. Was just cruising in deep water at 30 MPH and BAM! 3rd time I have been towed since I have had it.(other tows were related to electrical issues) Already had a entire new wiring harness replaced. This is getting ridiculous I am scared to take the boat out anywhere, for fearing breaking down!

Contact your dealer. With this issue resurfacing, many will have the parts in stock. And yes, they'll replace the prop too.

I have a 2016 G23 with a 450HP motor which I ordered and received last June. Today started getting the same rattle so I stopped to see what was going on and when I tried to take off again it wouldn't go forward or reverse. I thought of this thread and sure enough after being towed in the shaft had sheared off and there was no prop. My question is who do I contact to file a claim Dealer or Nautique? How long did it take for this repair to be completed by your dealer? Did they also replace your prop? I am super bummed as this boat is barely a year old and has less than 50 hours.

Did you buy from Sail and Ski?

And they should give you a paid vacation any where in the world and a new tow vehicle.

    yeah, they did.

Being a simple person, my issue with this is also simple. I would like them to man-up and admit they have a problem, and like other companies (Samsung) just say that they will pay for x years or hours for both parts and labor. I don't expect them to do it forever. But for a certain period of time...although I have heard that some dealers will upgrade shaft for free...but I would like this to be a mfg notice to the public, not just dealer rumor...
I definitely agree with this, Nautique should man-up and cover all cost related to prop shafts breaking, they should even come pick up your boat and bring it back to you after its fixed.
This is bad and they have an issue.

Just another thought about the shafts. In the 80's you had 240 hp with what a 1 inch shaft. Now you have what 450, 500, and 550 hp and what is the diameter of the shaft 1 1/8. If it is, then the 1/8 inch diameter good for 150 to 210 more hp. Just a thought.

Well ****. I am having mine replaced as I type this and now see that it could happen again and again. WTH. Nautique should find the issue and replace/repair with an updated shaft so this NEVER happens......twice.

My 2017 G23 H6 snapped its shaft last week while cruising with the family. Not under any weighted load or hard start but just running along at 25mph. Boat started to shutter. I backed down to idle and then lost propulsion. Looks just like the others. Snapped right behind the strut. It was a long day getting it all the way back to my lift and is now sitting there waiting on a new shaft and prop. Kind of a killer to the last half of my family vacation.

I dont understand how Nautique is still having this issue after 4 years. There is NO excuse for it. If your suppliers are failing to do their quality control, change suppliers. If you can't find one to meet your needs, make it in house.... at the price of these boats, it definitely should not be about cost of materials!

I know that Nautique will take care of the parts and labor to replace the shaft and prop but this problem should NOT be happening.

Look, if it were loose wiring... fine.... stereo malfunction.... fine... zero off not working properly....fine.... I had to deal with all of that when I bought my 230 9 years ago and Nautique fixed all the issues over time but none of those issues stopped me from enjoying every day on the water. But, break a shaft and drop a prop....your done.

I can't imagine what would have happened if I had been on the Ohio river at the time..... fast current and few boats that could have helped, with tugs and barges going by......scary thought!

This issue will definitely weigh in on my next purchase.

    BS
