received my lights yesterday as a matter of fact.

first thing I noticed is how heavy they are. Very solidly built. Did a quick bench test and they are BRIGHT! like, dont look into the light carolayn bright!

    Ill probably install this weekend.

one thing is that these will be a permanent install. you have to use a 1/2" drill bit. and drill a 1/4" deep hole to recess the wire. Im sure thats possible to re-gel coat in if you for whatever reason changed your mind, but its not going to just be be 3 screw holes and a tiny hole for the wire. measure 3 times

Should also mention that the along with the light are detailed instructions, a mounting template, and some tape to mount the template. I thought that was a nice touch.

Are these heat sensitive like the CC ones are supposed to be? dizzyj, are you hooking these up to your stern light or a separate switch? Looking forward to seeing the install pics.

                  done

finished the install. pretty easy. drill a couple holes, add some silicon, mount, then tap into your curtisy lights. (thats what I hooked them up to)

only thing I would do different is that for the mounting screws, I would only drill a pilot hole. The directions tell you to countersink using a bigger bit, then a small bit, but the holes are very close to the edge of the light. You can see one of the counter sink holes peeking out from behind the light in one of the pictures. I dont see a reason for the countersink on these holes.

Ill hit that spot up with some gel coat at some time.

                    Dizzy,
nice job, I just got some in blue...I was on the fence with red (my boat colors are almost the same as yours), but I like the water color of the blue units.

What is your center to center distance on the lights? I asked Ken about it, and he said he's done about 2 feet apart.
BTW, do your lights have only 5 led units?

Oh yeah, the lights are very well built, they have "stands" where the screws go through so that water can get behind the lights to cool them, I guess. Wiring is completely potted where it comes out the back, nice and heavy stainless housing, good job Bullet!

Thanks! not sure of the distance. I basically put them as far apart as I could while still getting easy access to the wires. I used the lifting hooks as guides.

can you describe the feeling of drilling trough the hull of your boat? must be intense.

lol, im addicted to it. only problem is, this boat already has everything. nothing left to drill holes for.

                              Looks great Dizzy!

Have you experienced any problems drawing too much power tapping in to the courtesy lights circuit?

I was thinking of doing the same, and adding a switch to isolate them if needed while the boat is out of the water.

                              Thanks.

btw: They say to countersink any drilled holes to help avoid spider cracks.
