I think CHassmann makes a good point.

It's a little more work, but you might want to see how it looks in the boat before changing it out. You may like it.

I think it looks awesome just the way it is but black too would look good. Either way I don't think you can go wrong here. Can't wait to see it in the boat.

That is correct. Putting them in the boat is the easy part. The foam was all messed up under the original upholstery, so I didn't want to try installing the skins myself.

I agree. I think black SeaDek on the base of the engine cover would look better.

To be clear Christine's Marine manufactured the skins for the interior and then you had someone else locally install the skins. You will now install them into the boat?

I think the skins and the install look like a factory job.

Upholstery was just delivered! I am happy with the upholstery installation, but I think I am going to have to change the SeaDek color on the engine cover base and seat bases. It looks like too many off-white colors coming together in one spot. I think black SeaDek would tone that down some. Thoughts?

No, I didn't end up buying the '87. It needed everything. There wasn't much left. The only good parts were the windshield and the swim platform. It was right on the IN/IL border.

I might get some of it installed Thursday if they get it here early enough.

Got a call yesterday from Nautique, and they should have the dash ready for me soon.

It should all come together pretty quickly now...
    Where in Indiana?

The local places around here wanted over $1,000 to recover the dash pod. They all said it was very difficult due to the contours. I think the SeaDek idea is going to work well if I have to go that route. Still waiting to get the dash pod back from Nautique though. We'll see what it looks like when it comes back.

The dash is down at Nautique right now. They are building some custom parts for it (I'll show you all soon). Maybe they'll surprise me and recover it (I doubt it though).

I went ahead and had SeaDek do a template of the top of the dash, and if nothing else, I will put black SeaDek on top of the dash, and I think that will look pretty good.
Can't your local guy refinish your dash pod, versus recover? We had a bimini incident which resulted in a few dings in our dash pod / throttle area vinyl. Our local guy says it's easy to patch the damaged areas, and then actually change the color of the pod itself. I'm having it sprayed black to match my boat better. It looks like he uses an air brush type of thing to do the vinyl work...the same tool they use when repairing upholstery.
