I totally agree with this. Nautique should cover parts and labor. This is clearly a known issue and not user error. Dealers should be putting the heat on Nautique to cover labor. If I was on my 3rd prop shaft and I had to pay labor on all of them my next boat wouldn't be a Nautique!

I am going to speculate that this is still happening and others are worried about posting to the forum as this is embarrassing for an owner to talk about.

you are aware that shaft was already upgraded for this problem from 1-1/8" to 1-1/4"? you don't think nautique would roll out a fix that did not fix the problem?
yeah, they did.
Being a simple person, my issue with this is also simple. I would like them to man-up and admit they have a problem, and like other companies (Samsung) just say that they will pay for x years or hours for both parts and labor. I don't expect them to do it forever. But for a certain period of time...although I have heard that some dealers will upgrade shaft for free...but I would like this to be a mfg notice to the public, not just dealer rumor...

Sounds like it's the bigger motors or bigger boats.
Probably should have been engineered with larger diameter shafts and bigger bore prop hole.

Wow. This is amazing to me that this is still happening. Has any explanation to the cause of this been given?
I assume it it has to do with the amount of torque put on the shaft by a large prop moving a heavy boat with a powerful engine, but it still seems like there would have to be some flaw in the metal of the shaft causing areas of weakness.
I'm curious, is it mostly occurring with boats that have the 550 engine or is it occurring regardless of HP rating? Is it happening with G21s or just G23 & G25?
Has this happened with any other tow boat manufacturers?Last edited by Evening Shade; 07-07-2017, 05:04 AM.
