Frustrating, but IMHO probably not this forum or Jeff's fault that Nautique doesn't deal with this...Only Jeff can assess the reasonableness of the amount he individually or as a representative of this forum, his forum, pushes Nautique.

Is this thread the reason we don’t do yearly customer questions and interviews anymore?

Honestly I don't know. Cause what I did was when I got the boat, I hooked it up, made sure it worked and that it could get the boat moving. And then I put it back away. I even took it out of the boat and then changed my mind and put it back in.
I didn't pay attention to they way the boat rudder was facing at the time. But I figured with 2 batteries on a small lake I would be ok no matter what.
I would guess you would have to use both tiller and rudder. You would not want one pointing one way and one the other.

Why should a Nautique owner have to even have this on his mind now. Kinda puts a cloud on every outing away from the ramp or dock thinking...is this my day??? ****....I like to take fall and winter rides just to run it and sometimes there is rarely another boat out there. Sucks to have to think about calling someone out just to come get you. And YES...I know "other" things can happen to a boat...but right here right now i'm talking just shaft failure on the Nautique G series.

Throw in an apology for good measure and I think they could (or could have) turn what is a black eye into something that people respect how they handled it. I am not talking a novel or a recall but simply a one pager discussing the issue.
To me that seems like a good middle of the road approach. I think this thread would be alot shorter and many would quiet down about this. Admittedly that wouldn't satisfy everyone but I think a lot of folks would have respect for their approach and give them some grace. Sticking your head in the sand over a well documented product issue is simply not the right approach. Tackling it head on is the right approach.
Also if I was a dealer I would be hopping mad over their silence to the public. The dealers are on the front line and probably catching the most heat over this. That's a crappy position to be placed in over Nautique's unwillingness to say something public.

There are at least 5 G owners and several other Nautique/Correct Craft owners on my home lake and I'm the only active PN member that I'm aware of.

A broken shaft is fairly uncommon and it’s a relatively quick fix. Nautique has repaired all shafts under warranty no matter the hours on the boat from what I have read on this forum. I have owned 5 G23’s and broke my first shaft at 495 hours on a 17. Of all the boat repairs I have had over the years this was one of the fastest repairs. I would like to see the problem eliminated by Nautique but I’m just saying how many people on this forum had had a problem that caused them to be stranded or take a boat in for repair.

And out of warranty they only supply the parts, not the labor (at least for the guy that owned my boat before me)...which would be fine if a one off, but it is a known problem...
