I just completed this upgrade on my new 2017 G23 through the dealer. I was required to purchase the head unit, transom remote, and two cables--one to the transom remote and one to the linc screen. Dealer then updated the linc software. Install was included as part of my purchase of the boat. Parts were about $1000. I have not had a lot of time on it, but so far, everything about the JL head unit--especially the Bluetooth--is far superior to the Polk head unit. I am very impressed and really glad that I did it.

Wow, $1000. It would be even more for me since I didn't negotiate the install hours when I bought the boat. IDK. I'm certainly not wild about the Polk PA4A I have, but I don't think I hate it THAT much.Originally posted by scarbs View PostI just completed this upgrade on my new 2017 G23 through the dealer. I am upgrading to the JL MM100S on my 2017 GS20. Any additional information on the harness (link to purchase)? Its pricey but I really hate the bluetooth dropping and want better options for controlling zones. Hoping it still controls through LINC but will also install knobs based on feedback from other posts that its much easier than going through LINC.
BTW, I have PA4, JL towers and boat speakers, two JL amps. Upgrading to (2) Rev10 towers, add additional 10" sub w/ custom enclosure (assume upgraded amp), and newer JL head unit. Any other recommendations? This is my first Nautique and we love listening to music while behind the boat or cruising down the lake so a little more willing to spend some $$ on an upgrade.

I would like more info as well. I want the JL head unit specifically for zone control, and I believe it is a better unit than the Polk. waiting on the dealer to get back to me about it. my GS20 goes in Friday for bow speakers, amp, subwoofer, and underwater lights. so they will be updating LINC already for the lightsOriginally posted by stuckinaustinag View PostI am upgrading to the JL MM100S on my 2017 GS20. RDT-G23 Do you have to purchase the harness? Any insight on where to purchase, its not on the Nautique parts website.[/QUOTE]
my dealer said the harness was necessary. And it was pretty pricey. Like $170. I think the upgrade was totally worth it.

Mine was a turn key deal; the dealer handled for me as sort of reparations for all of my troubles since purchase. Yes, the harness is needed; I also bought the RF remote module and harness.

I got the components for what they would have cost from the factory at build time, minus discount. i don't remember what it was, I will have to look. I am expecting better sound, more fill from the front. basically I am upgrading to the higher factory optionOriginally posted by stuckinaustinag View Post

I have a 17 g23..... ghost switching from am to aux anytime my thumb drive is used. Bluetooth causes same issue as does XM and display will not let me change source and will not display current title/tract..... and then have intermittent lose of all control of volume and have to kill all power on boat and restart.... PIA when it happens during session and volume is wide open!
Is there anything the JL will not do that the Polk is supposed to??

what all is needed to add a transom controls? I would like to add them to my boat. I have found when hanging out on the sun pad it would be nice to have controls to adjust music, specifically volume.
thanks

I have the same problem all the time (touchscreen appears to switch between AM radio and whatever source I'm using) on my 2017 G23, with polk head unit. Does yours do this all of the time, or only when you use a thumb drive? My dealer and corporate can''t figure this out. I', trying to get them to upgrade mine to the JL head unit at no cost, but so far none of their fixes (replacing polk head unit, updating linc) have worked. Let me know if you figure something out. I'll keep you updated.
