This is what they are. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5x-HOOD-DOOR...item338898f4ea
since the switch just connects the ground circuit i dont think there is any chance of a spark.
As for the platform i sanded it all by hand with a block and i used a dremel with a fine sanding tip for the creases. Oh and i sanded with 80 grit.

Those LEDs look great and I love the hood pin switch idea. Do you have a link for where you got those? One thing to think about is if there is any potential for spark with the hood pin switch in the engine hatch? I don't know the answer but would hate you for you to find out the hard way so just something to think about. Hopefully that is not an issue because that is super convenient.
What grit did you use to sand your platform and did you do it by hand or what did you use? I don't have any poly/stain on mine but I don't think the previous owner ever oiled it so it got pretty weathered. I have used the Star Brite 3 step process multiple times and it looks great for about a month to 6 weeks before it deteriorates and starts to turn gray and black again. I am thinking if I give it a light sanding that it will take the cleaning products and stain better and hopefully at least last the season.

So the leds came in today and i installed them in the vdrive storage.

I also decided to install another hood pin switch to the observer storage seat. I always come off the lake after dark and i think this is going to help tremendously for finding crap. When you lift the observer seat up it turns on the 40 LED light in the cargo area and also turns on another 40 LED light above the driver kickpanel.

Hey delmage what type of teak oil did you use on your platform and how is it holding up?

lol one of the few things i got a step on you on. Let me know if you have any questions! Make sure your engine dividers go up past the exhaust manifolds because when those 750s are full they take up some room!Originally posted by delmage171 View PostHey man! Boat is coming along awesome! I am a high school teacher and i have been on break for the last 2 weeks and have been bored. Since i do not like the poly/stain on my platform (too slick and chips off) i decided to sand down the top.
I plan on keeping the bottom and sides of it poly/stained black and doing teak oil on the top.

All the courtesy lights in the boat are red. Im not sure if it came from the factory like that or what but they arent very bright. I wanted it a bit brighter and not have to hit a switch everytime.
Thanks for checkin in!

Nice touch with the hood pin! Did you boat not come with lights in the v-drive lockers? Mine has "RV lights" in each locker that come on with the other courtesy lights. I assumed this was factory but maybe not. Your boat sure is coming along nice.

1997 Super Sport - Red/Black AIR - Work in Progress ---Lots of Photos
Got the depth finder installed.

I also installed a hood pin switch to operate some LEDs i bought to light up the engine compartment. It basically disrupts the ground when it is pushed down and enables the ground when it is let go. Lights are on the way from china.

Im catching up to delmage. Oh and i got some chromax for christmas but that will have to wait for warmer temps.Last edited by Brichter14; 12-30-2013, 03:03 PM.

Ok got some updates. I ended up painting my pro 80s myself and with the help of MLA i got the right mounting clamps. I put the speaker setup on the tower today and got to hooking up the quick connects.

But i have a problem. The polk 2000.2 amp i got for the 485 is cycleing between protection and power mode and i cannot figure out the problem. Also the female end on one of the pro 80s quick connects has a faulty connection so i might just buy a new one.

Started running wiring for tower speakers. The left side is for the left pro 80 and the 485. The right side (starboard) is for the right pro 80. I decided to run another power wire up the starboard side just in case i wanna add lights to the tower later on. That will keep me from having to repeat this entire process in the future.
