    Oil drains slowly

Doing an oil change on my 2005 210. The oil drains slowly. Is there anything I can do to make it go faster. The lid is off and I already changed the oil filter. OR maybe it just drains slow. Any tips would be appreciated.

Did you warm the engine up first to thin the oil so it would flow better? Have you tried an oil extraction pump?

Agree with Evening Shade on his comment. Oil extractor is the only way , so simple and easy

Great insight. I did not start the boat, but definitely will next time unless I buy an oil extractor! Thank you for the help.

Mine drains kind of slow even when the oil is warm.

I never had luck draining without sucking it out...just seemed to trickle so slow...I use a little manual hand siphon pump.

I'm of the opinion that the oil should be drained via the drain hose provided by Nautique. Run the boat for at least 30 minutes after adding StaBil for winter layup. Then run drain hose through hull to oil drain pan, let it sit overnight. This is my formula for the past 30 years, clean and simple. All of the oil will be drained. The key is hot oil.

Your "formula" won't work for all boats. You can't get the drain hose to the bilge drain plug in many many boats.

You can still use an oil extraction pump with the drain hose.

I just figured mine was fouled by another hose, I have tried a few times to figure out what it’s held up on and end up just using my extractor each time. With your statement it seems like the drain hose is set up for use with a garboard drain in the Transom, like one my previous boats with a I/O Merc MPI, it drained very slow (even hot) but was so easy as it was actually connected to the back side of the drain plug so I did the overnight drain.

Doesn’t seem like PCM puts long enough drain lines on these power plants for the Nautique V-Drive orientation.

Which oil extraction pump works best? Can it be hooked up to the drain hose, or go through the oil fill?

I use the Motive brand of oil extractors. You can run the hard plastic oil extractor hose up the drain hose to drain. This method works better than putting it down the oil fill or dip stick hole

I have tried several brands and talked to a number of friends who do their own oil changes. In my opinion the MITYVAC 7201 Fluid Evacuator is one of the best you can find. You can purchase brass fittings at Home Depot that connect directly to the drain tube of your engine.

Warm the engine, attach the extractor, give it 10+ pumps and it completely drains the oil in 3 min. Its large enough to store all of the oil without having to stop and empty. This is the biggest problem with most of the smaller, cheaper extractors.

I got mine for a great price from Tooltopia.

I have a Motive extractor but I did the exact same thing with my extractor that you did by modifying it with brass fittings alllowing it to be connected directly to the drain tube line.
