Repair for Dead Gauges on 2000-2002 Nautiques Caused by Failing Teleflex Gauges

There is a known issue with 2000 - 2002 digital speedometers and tachometers that were installed in Nautique boats. These gauges, manufactured by Teleflex, are known to have their displays fail. There is no generally-accepted repair procedure, and the only option to restore functionality is replacement. Unfortunately, Teleflex no longer manufactures this particular gauge, and there are no others made that are a close match.

It is important to note that on these boats, the engine hours are stored in these gauges, and when they fail, it is virtually impossible to verify the hours on the boat. If the boat came with Perfect Pass installed from the factory, the hours listed on that display may be accurate, however that system can be reset or modified, so keep that in mind.

I work for a company that rebuilds automotive gauges. If anyone has any of the failed Teleflex gauges, I'd love to get them for our R&D department to see if we can repair them and correct the root cause so that there's at least another option to keep the OEM look of the dash. Newbie here with a question pertaining to the speedometer/tach replacement on a 2000 Sport Nautique. My boat does not have perfect pass and I understand that I will have to use a hole saw to drill through the hull for the paddle wheel. Do people who have done this modification remove the pilot tubes for the original speedometer from the stern of the boat? In addition, the Faria kits that appear on nautiqueparts and other websites seem to have blue accents on the gauges, while the other gauges on my dash are black with white lettering. It's not that big of a deal, but I was wondering if anyone has seen or purchased gauges with white lettering to match the remaining four gauges on my dash. Thanks for the help!

I removed all my pilot tubes and all the wiring for the stock teleflex guages. You'll need to fill the holes in the hull from the pilot tube mounts and tubing. As you said, the replacement faria guages tap into the perfect pass paddle wheel or in your case if you don't have perfect pass then they come with the paddle wheel which I would think is better than pilot tubes anyway? I think you can get different colored guages check the faria website you'll see the options for what color guages they have for the tach and speedo.

I don't think they look as good as the original teleflex so a repair for those guages would be awesome if anyone figures it out. I wish I kept all mine now.

thank you for the input, I will definitely be doing this in the off season. The tach is working intermittently and I think 4150 RPMS puts me close to 36mph for slalom.

I have a 2002 Nautique. It has PP installed with paddle wheel. My gauges are almost dead. I'm looking at the replacement set on Nautique Parts but wondering what people's thoughts are about getting just the Tach (http://www.nautiqueparts.com/blackta...placement.aspx) and then getting a GPS speedo? Or, with the paddle wheel, am I just as well off just going with the replacement set on Nautique Parts (http://www.nautiqueparts.com/fariaga...sgauges.aspx)?

My boat's in storage right now, so does anyone have the gauge sizes if I go with something other than the NP replacement set? I'll need to run up the engine hours, so hoping to buy this winter and have ready to install in spring.

You could also go just the tach replacement then instead of spending the money on a GPS speedo spend it on a GPS perfect pass. Then you have GPS cruise control and not just a GPS speedometer. Then just buy a hole plug for the speedo location because the perfect pass has a nice big screen anyway that will show you your speed.

I beleive if if you did get the Nautique parts replacement speedo also that it would just get its signal from the GPS PP cruise control anyway so regardless might be better investment to spend the money on a GPS perfect pass upgrade.

I got the Faria tach with engine hour meter to replace my Teleflex. Does anyone know how I can run up the engine hours prior to installing to be accurate?
