50lb lead bags don't move unless you flip the boat over...

Here are the approx measurements he provided to me. Port 68x22x12 and Starboard 50x22x12

My boat came in and in final preps the dealer is going to plumb in 2 extra 750 sacs. Currently will be tied to same relay with new pumps so doesn’t slow fill even further... but rumor is Nautique will soon be doing this and a software update is on the way. The opening already are identical to the port and starboard existing bags (same shape) so a second set on each side is happening

What’s the rumor on when they’ll do that during production? Are they talking 2021 models or 2022?

            rcraighughes,

We have a 2021 G23 coming this spring as well. Are these extra bags sub-floor?

If so why didn't Nautique put these in all of their new Gs.

Simple...... because Nautique didn’t realize the boats were “under ballasted” until people started talking about it. Remember if this is true ......it’s a fix .....not an original idea for the new baby Paragon.

Or perhaps it's possible there was insufficient time after the Paragon hull was retooled for the G23 top. Nautique simply did not have time in production to change the ballast and still make it's ship date in July. This happens all the time in development. Features are delayed to make a ship date.

Stop your logic. They deliberately sold an underperforming boat so that people would have to buy new boats because nobody will put $500 worth of lead in a $200K boat.

WakingAround....not sure about stopping the logic....maybe you are missing the point. The new hull G23 is not an "underperforming" boat....it's just not as "Good" in the wave department as a Paragon....but hardly underperforming as it sits. And your second point.....not sure where that came from...but everyone IS currently putting $500 bucks worth of lead in the new G23s. Now...if they do what is mentioned above...sure...there will be happier buyers going forward. As Greg mentioned...they will just get a new Feature.

It sure will be interesting if the additional ballast ends up being a factory add. This would interest me more than adding lead when the time comes. Maybe I'm making a big deal of nothing in not wanting to haul extra weight in the form of lead around at times when it isn't needed.

I would be thoughtful about adding too much additional ballast to the 21+ G23. In my opinion 2 x 750 lb bags over the stock ballast would be overkill and not in a good way. Perhaps this might be useful for wakeboarding but honestly I would not want that much weight for surf. Take a look at the wave of the stock G23 and the same exact boat with the same 2 person crew but with 800lbs in the second photo. Notice the volume of water of the center section of the wave my son is surfing and the flat, unassuming wave of the stock ballast my daughter is riding. 800 lbs made that much of a difference! I have said it before but never have I seen a hull respond this much to weight. What concerns me is the extra weight made that center section of the wave VERY firm, it felt too hard. After a couple of falls it felt like it could be more painful than I might want. And it wasn't just me. My wife said the wave was enormous but it wasn't fun. My son said landing airs was like landing on concrete. The 210lb local Centurion pro said the shape was awesome but he would want to "tone it down". With 1500 lbs of of additional weight and a decent size crew the boat could put out a fierce wave that may not be that much fun to surf. Just my two cents.

If the 750 pound sacs were in the lockers, it would be a dealkiller to me. The lockers are huge, but making space for bags that large would make the storage mediocre.

Can anyone else validate additional factory stock G ballast rumour from there dealers ?
I will chase this up with my dealer here in NZ but we are a loooong way away from the rumour mill
I can’t even get the lead bags here, and to ship them to our covid free island paradise costs 3 times what the lead costs .....
may have to try give out free beer and pies over the upcoming winter down under to try fatten up the crew before SANTA try’s to get my G down the chimney in dec .....
