I have a 2016 Yukon Denali. Here's the sticker on my hitch. I've read the owners manual and gmc towing guides a bunch of times. It says over 6000 lbs or 600 lbs tongue weight you need a WDH. Are you saying something changed on the 2017?
On the current towing guides for the GMC website the 2017 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 has a rating of 8100. It does mention a WDH but only for tongue weights over 600lbs and the hitch stamp is just like yours....carrying at 1000lbs and max tow at 10000. They always used to be stamped at 500/1000 and 5000/10000, with WDH required over 500/5000. It's kind of vague because it doesn't say anything about using a WDH over a certain lbs. We pull our 230 with one. Does great for that boat. I've pulled 8k in our other 28ft open now. Certainly can feel it back there but with the air bags and stabilizer bars it's a stout tow vehicle.
On the towing guide it says over 600lbs tongue you need a WDH. BUT in the actual owners manual it says over 6000lbs trailer or 600lbs tongue you need a WDH. It's really hard to find and you have to really dig deep to get the info!
