I also like the fading from black to white in the nautique. And I also agree that the people who dont' own air's aren't going to like that pic of a nautique. However, my family will soon own an air and I in fact like that idea very much. I think its a little more authentic having a nautique like that as a logo, oppose to a solid color one. Yeah its true, the more detail, the more cost for t-shirts and stuff. But one company can have more then one type of t-shirt. Look at all the t-shirts CC offers! They have shirts for air owners and ski owners. So i dont think this site should feel pressured that they have to satisfy everyone their first shot at t-shirt making. The only thing i dont like about having a colored, or "real" nautique is that i dont think it would very cool to literally copy something from another website...thats kinda cheating...but if you edit it and then put some gradients or text in the back/forground...i think that would be okay.

Theres really only one answer to solve all of this...leave the black ski nautique as the original and classic PlanetNautique logo...and anyone can post anything and those can be made into shirts and be put on other things that will be sold...or in other words...there can be more, a lot more then one logo...its not like the whole country knows about this site or anything...we can still be casual.

Here's a few bits of info to consider...

A successful logo needs to be appealing. One way to do be appealing is to add excitment. As this would follow with CC's current marketing effort (Live It) and is consistant with watersports, I would opt for an image that exudes motion. For this reason, I prefer the logo currently being used on the home page rather than any of the other 3 submitted. I think the ski handle going from stern to bow and continuing forward off the page adds this motion and makes the logo interesting. Also, the connection to watersports is obvious and the outline of the Nautique is identifiable.

Keep it simple. Use one or two colors. If embroidery is something you want to consider, too many colors becomes a nightmare very quickly as there will always be some color that won't show well on the background color.

Keep it current. Reproducing the graphics of 2004 model may apear dated as early as August when the 2005's are released.

And, when the medium allows, animate it!

Here are some successful logos to add inspiration:

IBM. AOL, Nike, ATT, NASA, Ferrari, Verizon, and the most recognized logo in the world, Coke.

I don't think CC would like if this site put a picture of a their boat from their color selector on this site's t-shirt or trailer guide post covers...

Hollywood, "Plus us guys that don't have Air Nautiques aren't going to like that."

And us guys that HAVE Air Nautiques like a plain boat in the logo?
Yeah, I know you can't please everyone. Maybe there should be two versions of stickers and shirts! Just add a tower to the boat in the original logo along with the line and handle connected to it and your done.
