i'd tell them you want to "watch" the whole repair job and have it recorded on video if thats what they want to do so you have a record of what was really done for when things happen shortly after the rebuild. and if you keep hasselling them they will give you a check. i learned that from a buddy in the insurance bus. call every day 5 times a day and say the same thing to the same adjuster and he/she will eventually understand. i promise.

For what it is worth I had a similar situation with State Farm and a car I wanted fixed and they wanted to total.
My Agent, who has a number of my personal and business policies, was the difference in getting them to change their mind. Once he stepped in they changed their mind and resolved the issue in my favor. He also plainly understood that this was a deal breaker for future business between us.
If you have leverage use it, if you do not, immediately involve a lawyer. Do not sign anything or make any concessions. This is business to them and they want the cheapest fix possible which may or may not be in your best interest.
Question.
Since you own a Nautique and are a member of PlanetNautique you are automatically a cool guy and therefore will tell who ever purchases your boat in the future that it has previously sunk. What do you think that will do to your potential resale value?

If their "marine adjuster" is directing the work, then is he going to be the one who declares it "good as pre-loss", as well as warrant that that all necessary repairs have been completed? No, he is going to give you some type of non-commital BS statement that "in his opinion, blah, blah, blah...My comment on the boat yard / showroom assumed you'd be somewhere where a Nautique could be purchased.2010 Super Air Nautique 210 Team Edition

my agent is Theo Hawthorne.
I contacted a lawyer today, we are meeting on Thursday.
I have no idea what the theives were thinking give me a break I wasnt there, all I know is there were 2 locks not counting the access code for starting the boat there was no drain plug in the boat and all my skis and jackets are missing. Did they float away? Were they stolen? Not sure. All I know is my boat is a mess and my insurance company is jerking me around.
Yes after this deal is done and I get out of this boat I will post the HID numbers so noone gets stuck with this boat.2003 226 LE

Make sure he or she is a good one. You very well may have a bad faith claim against the insurance company if they were not planning on paying to replace or rebuild everything in the boat. Good luck and sorry you are having to deal with this.

That reminds me...in addition to the "bad faith" claim...which could make you independently wealthy for life...you should should check your policy and state's laws on "diminished value" claims. Now that your "N" has been ruined and possibly brought back to life, it will forever be tattooed with a memory that will reduce its resale value. You may be entitled to compensation for this component.Originally posted by j2nhQuestion.

Tell them with the damage, diminished value, your attitude, etc...their cheapest bet is to pay you in full and auction off the hull for a salad bar island at the local marina.

Break given...but still tell us the story of how you found it in 30 feet of water. Did someone see it go down? And I'd still love for someone to explain why it sank. I also thought these things were supposed to be buoyant.Originally posted by LvnspeedI have no idea what the thieves were thinking give me a break I wasn't there, all I know is there were 2 locks not counting the access code for starting the boat there was no drain plug in the boat and all my skis and jackets are missing. Since I am an insurance agent for Nationwide this story keeps me going. I think about this scenario all the time, what would I do if my boat were sunk, what would I consider in buying a boat that had been sunk, If my boat were sunk I would accept no repair short of carrying the boat to Orlando and having the factory take it apart and rebuild it wire by wire, take the engine apart or give me a new block, same with the trannny, new upholstery and foam. . . new computer, new everything . . . they are designed to operate in a wet environment but not under a wet environment. . . if your agent is worth his salt he is screaming to the high heavens. . . i would want that boat completely dissassembled and put back together with new parts. . .then and only then would I accept. . . the reality of this is that all that added up is going to be close to a total. . . it only has to be close to 70% anyway because they should get at least 30% for the salvage and then the rest of us better keep our eyes out for that boat. . as i said in earlier post had a aquaintance who had a 95 ss go under and NW totalled it (i was not his agent) but he kept his salvage and flushed and dried out and never had a good weekend after that . . . it may still be sitting on a lift on lake Norfork for all i know . . . they offered it to me for $15K back in about 99 which was a super smokin deal but only if you want to restore it . . .

Why do people not remember this one simple fact?
INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE NOT IN BUSINESS TO GIVE OUT MONEY!
The agent is not your friend. They are salesman trying to get your money.
After an incident, the value of a check issued by them, from them is in the fine print on the check, release of liability.
Insurance is a business. That is all it is.

how did they get the back up off the bottom? Did they have a hoist? is it being held up from sinking back in that pic by the dock. just curious, this sucks for you man. I am going right now to talk to my state farm guy. Where is your spot on smith, i'm a little worried about my boat now. When you get a few minutes humor us with more details, we aren't bustin your *** just don't want to be in your boat so to speak. I was always under the impression my boat wouldn't sink, this is troubling.

Oh dude fellow Alabama guy here who is insured by State Farm as well. This is scary stuff. I bought a new Moomba a few years ago from the folks that now own Ryan Creek and it was a disaster. Stayed in the shop most of the first season and they could not figure out what was wrong. They have now lost the moomba brand here on Logan Martin. They have bought and closed some other good old dealers around as well. My Nautique was originaly bought from the blue creek dealer down on Martin and have always heard great things about them. Also the guys at skiers on 280 have a very good rep. but surely you will not have to repair this boat. good luck and god speed.

Lvn, did you ever ask CC if they will even warranty a boat sunk for three days? If it was a car, I doubt the car co. would and I would not be surprised. ER

Lvn,
I am not sure what you are trying to do here but I want to know why you insured your boat for $30K if you are asking only $25K for it for sale?
You have listed the boat for sale on this site for $25K taking offers on Feb 2, 2009 (that would be the date after you knew it was sunk, and it should have been at Ryan Creek for repairs). Why would you list a boat for sale on this site after it was sunk and not repaired?
Also, in one of your first posts, you told me you bought the boat for $12K, and posted on this site you bought it for 12K and then the dealer at Huston Motors righted the conversation by verifying that you paid $22K for this boat.
Search posts for LVNSPEED and see what I am talking about.
I don't know why anyone would post a sunken boat for sale and also tell everyone online that he paid half what he did and wants to insure it for $7,000 more than he bought it for then it turns up sunken 30 feet (which I don't believe will happen with a Nautique.)
You got some explaining to do!!
