I got my pumps, check valves for the vents, and my chrome thru hulls for the vents and bilge pumps today. I am just waiting on my ball valves for the thru hulls. If by some chance they come in I will start my install this weekend.

they beefed up the motor cause it is a 2 way system
a lot of gen 1 motors would seize up, only designed to go 1 way

i talked to an engineer for awhile back east about it
we had tons of MB's come in with this problem

i would also put is a handle or sea-cocks to turn the lake water off, or come in
actually it is a USCG requirement, surprised that the new ones have no shut off handles, that is a no-no!!!

ever see a whole lake try to come up a 3" hole, not pretty, no bilge pump is going to pump it out!

You do not need check valves with the 1127's. The pumps themselves are the check valves. A 3" hole is way over kill. You only need a hole as big as the fitting on the pump. It cannot take more water than that in, anyway.
I like the thru hulls out the back, as noted in my above post. These are so fast you don't need to fill while driving. It also makes it extemely easy to winterize the pumps. Just get a fitting on a 3-4 foot piece of hose, and thread it onto the thru hull, put in the antifreeze bucket, run your pump for a few seconds, and you are done.

No siezing up on mine, so far so good. I also put a valve in my system to turn it off, just like you said. I think every system should have this.

if u run the yellow impellers u will be fine
that was the reason of the yellow impeller thing, until they came out wih the beefy motor

The new boats do have a seacock valve.

This may be a dumb question but how do I know which inlet is which? Meaning, which should be going to my inlet? I know you can rotate the head to change direction, but do all the pumps come pulling from the same direction? I know I could find out pretty easily when my system is in but id rather not. Thanks

I've been running the black impeller which came in my pumps for four years, what are the yellow impellers and why would I need them?
                  Thanks.

wake_fun, they burn out. I had thought there was a recall or something on the black ones. If you call Jabsco, or Pumpbiz, they will send you the yellow ones. This is the case with the 1127 pumps, but I seem to recall you saying you had the previous generation pump, so possibly N/A.
