Thanks for the tips guys. It has to go up a reasonable slope, I didn't mention it was almost impossible to do with my old 2wd pickup due to traction if that gives you any idea what I am dealing with. Last night it went right in first shot, kind of makes me forget when I scraped the fender on the fence...

I had thought of the front hitch before, but kind of forgot. They make them for my truck/tahoe (same frame in the front). The bonus is that it can also double as a bicycle hauler with my hitch rack so will probably go that route. I have seen fishermen launch their boats using front hitches before, seemed quite maneuverable.

i've got a front hitch on my 2dr tahoe, i mostly use it as a pull point and for a multimount winch.... i fooled around with "pushing" the boat in the back yard and found it much harder to maneuver than when backing. granted, i've backed ALOT of trailers since i was just a wee one, so maybe it was just because i wasn't use to it...

If it's that steep, put a hitch on the front of your truck, or get a used 4x4 atv.

I drag some boats and trailers around with a 4x4 atv. As mentioned earlier it can be an issue because the atv hitch sits so low. Also when pulling my bass boat up from the launch and up a slight grade in driveway to back in basement the boat will pull my atv around and is very hard to manuver. I would never attempt to move my 220 with it. My next door neighbor has an old 15 horse deisel Mitsubishi 4x4 tractor and he pulls ski boats and pontoons up and down a steep drive to his launch with no issues. I have had my eye out for an old tractor this summer and believe I can wrangle my 220 around with one. All that said there is no question if an old tractor can be obtained I would go that direction.
          Thanks Terry (rugdog)
