You could also do the non-skid type steps from earlier Nautique trailers like this https://www.nautiqueparts.com/produc...ailer-fenders/

just hand washed a 2011 malibu triple axle boat mate trailer yesterday. its been sitting under a tree and is covered in bird ****. there were red stains on the seadek, they came right out with some light scrubbing and simple green. metal gets hot, sea dek not so much. replacement seadek for the trailer is cheap too, like $100 for the whole trailer.

I'm just concerned about how well Seadek will hold up and how good it will look after 4-5 years on a trailer.

I will agree that this black non-skid rubber stuff does stay clean and new looking. Boatmate doesn't show is as an option when you build a custom trailer on their website. I think I may call them to see if it is still available.

I might be the only one not supremely impressed with seadeck... Maybe it was the salt water environment, but I had to replace my entire 2012 in 2015, in my eyes lasting only 3 years is a huge failure. Add to that the challenge/labor required to remove and replace it... Not a big fan. Had diamond plate show rust around the edges on my 2005 though, which tells me there is no perfect solution that ive found yet... Good luck.

I meant to say without a perfect seal around the plate it traps water and the fenders rust. Like mine, 5 year old trailer full of rust. I don't know why some manufacturer doesn't step up and dip their trailers before paint. They'd kill the competition because all of these tube frame trailers hold water and rust out. First guy to do that wins.

The trailer is steel...I think the aluminum is trapping water under it and causing the steel trailer to rust.

On my last boat, after 11 years of never making a decision on what I wanted on the trailer for protection, I got into the habit of laying a towel down if I really needed to step on the fenders. Normally I stepped on the tire if I needed to immediately enter from the sides. It sure looked clean with nothing on the fenders. I always enter my new boat from the back only now because of the high gunnels.

Diamond plate hands down. Just think of shoes, road rocks, etc.

I agree that the Seadek looks good, but I'm not sure if it will look good after a few years on a trailer. That's why I'm leaning toward the 5 bar diamond plate. It will clean up easy and wont fade or get stained over the years.
