Ohhhh, now we've got a little competition going.

I'll be back with a picture of mine. Totally sanded and cleaned the teak over the winter followed by 5 coats of Sikkens marine finish.

      My tail's gorgeous.

Why would you stain or varnish teak?? Clean it up and finish it off with teak oil, that's all that's needed.

why'd you Varnish teak? it's a naturally oily wood, that varnish will be peeling in no time. Don't mean to sound like an ahole, but you've got alot of work to do now once it starts flaking off...

I just wet sand mine a little to get out the board marks then put on a few coats of starbrite teak sealer at the begiining of each season. (Its not like varnish, it will come right off with starbrite teak cleaner) It doesnt take long, mine is on an 02 SANTE. Man I cant wait to get out on the lake, I dont think the weather is ever going to break here in Milwaukee.

                ^^looking very good sir, congrats!

my 210 is at the CC dealer for a week so I had some time to kill...I'll see how it holds up to water. might just sand it down and give it a fresh coat of oil

the previous owner had varnished the platform but it looked very aged and it had board marks all over the place..

                  All,

Someone should tell CC not to varnish the darn things. I had to strip mine so I could let the realy oiled beauty of the wood show through. CC, ya listening....

                  Pics shortly.

Thanks SACEONE! We have the same boat, ALL BLACK 02 SANTEs ROCK!

I like the classic look of the teak, but I hate the whole teak oil endeavor. Having to always oil the board .....then worry with the kids coming in and out of the boat stepping on the teak and the oil staining the interior. Its a hassle.

It may not be for everone but from my experience and time oiling and oiling teak, I now use the Starbrite teak sealer, it lasts all season. (my season is from may-sept give or take a little........WI cold Sucks!) I use the starbrite teak cleaner, then I wet sand with 400 grit to take out the board marks, then a few coats of the sealer and you're good to go until next season. When your season is as short as mine, I'd rather be rippin on the water than oiling a board.

                        Yeah,

But it is easier to stain and varnish to choice if they did not varnish them all. They should let US decide.

                            All,

Here is a picture of my Deck (hope I load this correctly). It was never sanded. I used a card scraper (see http://www.veritastools.com/Products...st.aspx?cat=49) starting course, then medium and finally fine. The card scraper leaves the grain open so the grain stands out after it is oiled or finished. Cabinet makers use card scrapers for beautiful funiture....if you use a fine long enough on a hard wood the wood, unfinished can look like glass. You dont want to do on a swim platform. This beautiful lady gets a fresh coat of oil every time she gets wet.

P.S. In '02, I was on a US submarine playing with Ivan........(think about when the wall fell)
