Excalibur 330 ECM Diagnostic Port

Hey gang, I need some help identifying the ECM diagnostic port on my 2006 Nautique 226 with Excalibur 330 engine.

I ordered a Rinda Techmate Pro so that I would be able to read any codes the engine ECM might set. Here’s pics of the unit and plug:




After staring at the wiring harness for a while, the only plug that looks like it could be a diagnostic port is the narrow 6-pin one next to the red circuit breaker button that has “405051-A” on the cap.





When I remove the cap I see that it has what appear to be 3 yellow fuses with no values showing. Possibly these are jumpers and not fuses? If this is the diagnostic port, then I have the wrong Rinda unit, based on plug shape.




Here’s more pics of the engine and wiring harness. It’s a V drive, so when I use “front” and “rear”, I’m using hull orientation and not engine orientation.

My Techmate Pro is an expensive paperweight at the moment, so any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

My 2007 Excalibur 330 is drive by wire with econtrols ecm. The diagnostic port is near the thermostat. Top of engine on the oil fill cap side.. Mine has 2 ports coming out of a wire loom with a sticker that says Engine diagnostics.

Picture #2 - Without adapter plugged in. My ECM and wiring may be different. I use the box shaped port (upper one with the gray cover) for reading the DiaCom information and had to buy a 2nd adapter to the flat port (lower flat 6 pin, black cover with green pins) when I downloaded a new ECM calibration file after replacing throttle potentiometer.

I’m not as familiar with Techmate as full Diacom, but I assume this is the same. Did you order the correct adapter to match up to your boat? I always order the Diacom setup with the full adapter set because it’s only universally useful with all the adapters.

my 2007 uses 94026, looks like 2006 uses 94005

The good news is that my Rinda unit has the 94005 connector. Now if I can just find the port....

Here's a pic of the same area on my engine. There are two ribbed plastic-shrouded wires running beneath the black-booted thermostat connector, which is just under the black rubber water hose. One with a blue stripe and one all black. They appear to continue to the underside of the engine. I gently tried to pull them to see if a connector might come up however they appear to be secure. There is nothing underneath the spark arrestor.




Later today I'll take the panels out of the starboard compartment and see if the ECM port is in a less accessible area near the pulleys/belts.

This guy posted about the location on his 2003 and says "It's called a data link connector it's on the starboard side of the top of motor near the back and it is plugged into another connector. Just unplug a few until you see this one pictured below."

Folks, I believe that we have a winner! Thank you JayG80 for the guidance. I found this plug coiled up and zip-tied on the starboard rear of the engine. I was accustomed to the diagnostics ports on automobiles, which are open fittings for the diagnostics unit. This plug, having male and female connectors with continuous wiring, cause me to rule it out. After disconnecting the two, the male slipped into the adapter on my Rinda Techmate Pro unit, and the Rinda unit activated immediately upon being plugged in. Unfortunately I'm getting a "No ECM detected". I cycled the ignition off and back on (without the motor running) and got the same message. So a conversation with Rinda support is in the works.





I noticed the same style plug connected directly to the black box, so for due diligence disconnected it and plugged it into the Rinda unit. Nothing happened whatsoever, the Rinda unit stayed asleep no matter what I did. However I noticed a long and narrow 'mystery plug" that I could find no connection for.

RA, sounds and looks like we have the same engine. I have a 06' SANTE 220 w/the 330. Every picture you have posted looks exactly like mine. I also have the two looms going down by the thermostat and could not find plugs on them either, but did not look under the engine yet, just gave them a gentle tug.

I did not buy the Techmate Pro unit, and opt'd for the software with laptop. I am ALSO trying to find this port and actively looking every night when I get home for the little 30-45 min. I have available outside of kids and the family. As you noted, this Rinda tech and the boat that does not want to work are an expensive paper weight sitting in my driveway.

I appreciate the photo's and updates, please keep them coming and let us know if you find it. I will do the same.

Funny thing is, I just posted last night about that single plug that goes to nothing...appears it was meant to be empty if we both are seeing it. Been searching high and low for wiring diagrams and other posts and could not find anything that says anything about that little pigtail that goes nowhere. I also noticed in the first pic above in post #9, that you also have what appears to be a black wire clipped off at the plug end where wires come in. Mine has the same clipped wire, also a weird thing we are both seeing.

Ed at Rinda Technologies is great at tech support. Two tips before you call:

1) If you bought a Used TechMate, be sure to update the software.

2) Take a photo of the wires and the port. Write down what color wire goes into each connector spot, they should have numbers 1-10. I had that No ECM issue on my first reading and had to unpin two wires from the boat CAN diagnostic connector and swap their positions.

I bought DiaCom because I thought it might offer more data so I am not versed in TechMate.
