    Dash refurbish options

    Hey all,

I aquired a 2008 Super Air Nautique 230 that I am trying to get back in shape. One of the next projects is refurbishing the dash and I have no clue where to start. I was hoping to replace the pieces but of course they are no longer available. Does anyone know if a different replacement is available and will fit or better, if there is a way to refurbish what I have. I do have all the panel pieces. It is some type of foam material. Thanks!

Is it just discolored or is the top layer worn through?

It's discolored and the surface feels hard and crusty but it stays together if I bend or push into it. I don't need it perfect but I would like to have a nice surface on it even if it loses the stitching look.

If there's no cracks and the material underneath it is still viable, I would remove it and use a vinyl dye. I've used SEM products with cars and had good luck. The key is following the directions to the letter.....

We re-colored all our dash pices in our 2008 210. See here https://www.inlandmarine.com.au/post...transformation

Looks amazing. What was the process that you used for the dash pieces? I emailed SEM for specifics but have not heard back. I don't know if I just treat it like vinyl or the EVA foam needs a different base coat.

Personally if i were in your situation, i'd do a test on one on the smaller pieces first.

All the pieces will come off the dash, most are just held in place with extreme duty hook and loop attachments.

              Remove them from the boat.

Wash scrub with dawn and a scrubbing brush ensuring you clean every nook and cranny.

              Let Dry

Once dry, thoroughly wipe over with rubbing alcohol at least twice again ensuring every single part of the piece is clean and free of any contaminants.

Applying the coating is simple follow the instructions ... do not take short cuts do as the can (s) say.

Our color change has been in the boat for over 5 years in the harsh Australian sun. ( we put over 200 hours per year on the boat ) it is still as good as the day we appiled it and looks OEM.. no one can tell it has been refurbished or that it didn't com from the factory that way. I'm considering something like this to clean up our 08 dash as well, so following this thread!

Spud, looks like that '08's dash was originally gray. Any reason it was re-done in black? I'd likely try to match our current gray if possible.

I will probably be going with gray. I emailed SEM with recommendations of specific products for the process but have not heard back. I will probably call them tomorrow and ask. I'll post their response.

jhiestand. Changed everything to black as I preferred the look of all black, the grey imho looks washed out and a little dare I say it cheap so black it was!
