That's good news. We saw electrolytics taking down power supplies (short) due to bad "paper" or whatever was between the foil wraps.

The '07 196 we have here, the fuel gauge is stuck at 3/4" and it does not illuminate with the nav lights. Low fuel warning works so I assume the sender is OK and it's the gauge itself? No other faults in the Faria system everything works well. 600 hours on the boat.

Sounds like the gauge. Let me know if you need help.

TechBeer is a magician — can't recommend the guy enough. Quick background for anyone who lands on this thread with a dead gateway of their own:

My gauges had gone completely dark and I'd more or less resigned myself to an expensive aftermarket conversion. TechBeer offered to take a look, I shipped him the unit, and he confirmed in his lab that it was in fact dead. Instead of just chasing the one failed component, he tracked down the "magic cap" behind it and then replaced all the suspect electrolytics and the relay as a safeguard — so it shouldn't be back on the bench anytime soon. Given these are ~2007 3rd-gen units, it's reassuring to know it should be good for another couple decades.

Dropped it back in and everything's reading correctly and rock solid.

If you've got a dead gateway and you'd rather keep your factory gauges and original dash than go aftermarket, reach out to him. Communication was great throughout and the work speaks for itself. Huge thanks again, TechBeer.

TechBeer What's the best way to contact you regarding a gauge repair please? I have a Faria Tacho that is out and as its the first in the daisy chain - the whole cluster is dead.

          Cheers

I think it's direct connection through each gauge, each circuit just taps off the can-bus. So one gauge should not take down the network unless it's a direct short across the signal/gnd for some reason - like water ingress. Seen that happen on Range Rovers.

Is there anyway to source a spare Faria Box for 2007? We have two boats here, working. I would love to have a spare box just in case.

I think the 2007 gauges are gorgeous, certainly one of the best of the era.

Hi Matt, FMSki 'n Surf is correct. Each gauge hardwires the Faria bus between the 2 connectors on the gauge. So even if the Tach gauge has failed, the gauges downstream will still work. So if all of your gauges suddenly went dead, then you likely have a gateway problem or possibly connections or grounding issue. 2006 was the transition year between pitot tubes and paddlewheel. My SV211 has the paddlewheel but I think some other 2006 Nautiques might still have the pitot tubes. Do you know which you have?

I can certainly help you whether it's the gateway or the gauges, need to narrow down though. And I think you might be in Australia correct? So any shipping might be an issue.

              Let us know.

Thanks TechBeer & FMSki 'n Surf I figured it was the gauge and not the box because the Perfect Pass is still working and receiving the data from the gateway box. I'm pretty sure I have the paddle wheel in there. Yes I'm in Australia, so getting parts to and from you will be a small mission, but I am sure I can coordinate that where necessary.

                Cheers

I also have a Nautique with the Gateway Issue and the Speedo not working. I 'd like to contact TechBeer, about a fix. We're a marina and used to be a Nautique Dealer 15 years ago. New owner and workers, so no one is familiar with the Nautique specialty equipment.

TechBeer new user here! I have a 2007 Nautique sv211 with all dead gauges, boat run good but no lights and no gauges at all. Would love to know if you are still working on these gateway boxes!

Sorry all, a bit behind on responses. It would help if you can PM me, since every case is different, but understand that new users have to post some number of times before you are allowed to PM. So:
Matt from Australia - Not sure the best approach since it seems like your gateway is out given all gauges are bad. I understand there is a repair shop in New Zealand (top of this thread) that might be a better option for you. You could certainly send me your gateway, but with round trip shipping etc. and not completely sure that is the problem. Really up to you.
STG228 - If just 1 gauge is bad then it's not the gateway. I could repair just the speedo, but need to know the model and year of the boat. If the pitot tubes were disconnected (MY 2005 and before) then the speedo won't work.
Ghst392 - Sounds like a bad gateway. I would check the connectors to make sure they are tight before doing anything dramatic. I have done this year gateway and have all the parts. Let me know what you want to do next. Again, PM me if you can.

TechBeer I'm unable to PM you at the moment as its a new account. Would it be possible for you to PM me. I'm very interested in trying to get the gateway fixed
