Thanks Peter, I'll have him do a leakdown and see what we find. And SOLID advice on buying the block. I'll have them tell me if it will fit and not the other way around. I appreciate your help.

If you have access to an engine hoist, I would pull the engine and strip it down to short block status and take it to a good reputable engine rebuilder in So Cal. Have the heads refreshed and slap that bad boy back in the boat.
