2017 G23 Ballast reading wrong & Engine code

So this weekend was our first day out on the lake. A couple of little hiccups that I hope aren't major. The first issue was an engine error code. DTC 1325 Knock retard at limit. SPN 731 FMI 15. I had dropped my wife and kids off and was parking the trailer when it happened. I came down to see someone towing our boat to the courtesy dock. She was freaking out saying it told her to shut everything down. I turned everything back on and started it up and everything seemed fine. No more error codes all temps/pressures were normal.

Any thoughts on this? Bad gas maybe? I did head to the marina and fuel up afterwards.

The second issue was my Port rear ballast was reporting 100% full. I hit the fill button and no water was dumped over the side. Based on the time it too for water to finally hit the overflow, I'd say the thing was completely empty. I cycled it a couple of times thinking maybe a sensor was stuck or dirty. By the time we came back that evening it seemed fine. But is there anything I should check? My understanding is on the 2017's they are bags. So do they have a float or something in them to detect levels?

    Appreciate any insight.

    Thanks,
    John

I have a G23 2017 as well. I have had that error code too. Just hit ignor. It always happens early season with me. Reason may be different octane fuel causing it or the Stabil fuel additive I had in the tank from the winter burning through the next season. May be a bad impeller on your port side water pump causing the timing to be off ; fairly easy to check to see if it is worn and needs replacement.

To be a bit more clear on the ballast issue. It was reading 100% full even though I had never actually filled it yet. So I think the impeller is fine. I actually at first thought the valve may have been stuck open and it filled with water. But actually hitting the Fill button filled it and eventually I saw water coming out the overflow, but it took the normal amount of time to fill as if it was empty. So it seemed like a fill sensor. I just wasn't sure how that worked as I've heard its based on timers as well as maybe sensors.
