Don't expect to be towing it much either, but was thinking of it as a "just in case". Going to test the G tomorrow morning, the M235 Wednesday morning, followed by the X-24 either later next week, or the first of the week after; any suggestions for the test?Originally posted by GMLIII View Post
I don’t own a trailer . Just use my boat lift for storage

You were absolutely right! There was something about the M235 that just felt like a "boat", not an experience. I heard creaks, bow rise, and a rough ride, which I wouldn't expect in a boat at that price range.Originally posted by GMLIII View PostKeep a close eye for fit and finish on the Malibu not on par with Nautique or Mastercraft

We have a coastal edition GS22 , my partner on the boat wanted to be able to use it in the bay while I prefer freshwater lakes or rivers. It probably has about 75% of the use in freshwater but I do have to say that the salt water is obviously a lot harder on everything. We use the flushing system to flush the cooling system on the engine but there’s no easy way to flush the ballast pumps and tanks every time we use the boat in salt water I noticed just how rusty and crusty things get and how rapidly that happens. When I took apart the ballast pumps to put in new impellers they look horrible inside and already had significant rust on the impeller shafts. You have to be much more diligent about cleaning and maintaining a boat used in salt water that’s for sure.

Thank you for the heads up; that's good to know! I've never used a partial raw water cooling boat on salt water before, so there's a lot more to take into consideration; I didn't even think about the ballast.Originally posted by estebanw View PostWe have a coastal edition GS22 , my partner on the boat wanted to be able to use it in the bay while I prefer freshwater lakes or rivers. They did end up releasing the app for the Garmin Fenix, however when I tried to download it, it only works on the 5 Plus series, which just came out. It kinda sucks that they expect people with existing watches to go out and spend another $750/ just to download an app, when the only thing Garmin added to the watch was local music storage. I'm guessing that must be a Garmin thing because I don't see a technical reason why it can't work on the existing watches. Fingers crossed that it will still work on Pebble, otherwise I'll have to sell my Garmin on Ebay and buy another.Originally posted by GMLIII View Post
Nope wishful thinking , rumor mill and expectation. No 2019 nor 2020 model surf select optioned boats will function with the Garmin Fenix watch . If you have either of these model years , the surf select system will only work with the Pebble watch . Sell you Garmin Fenix and buy a cheap $50.00 Pebble watch on EBay . Just Saying

Yes they just released info that the 2020s equipped with Surf Select will work with a Garmin Fenix. If you have a 2019 model year with the 2.0 Surf Select module , it should function with either the Pebble Time or Pebble Classic model watches. It will not function with a Pebble 2 model watch. Also to note, the 2020 Surf Select equipped model boats have 3.0 Surf Select modules and not 2.0 Surf Select modules. These 2020 models equipped with Surf Select will not function with any Pebble watches only GarminOriginally posted by fearocks View Post

Just purchased a 2015 SAN 210 Coastal that had a couple of years and over 1000 hours of salt use and moved it inland here to MN. It was priced $20k less than comparable non-salt used boats of that model in the market. Other than some cosmetic issues making it look a bit prematurely aged, everything on it is in pretty good shape considering. I can fix or repaint a lot of stuff for $20k or just enjoy having that extra money in my pocket.

As another Coastal owner stated., even though the Coastal model has the fresh water flush system and the engine is only parially water cooled since it has a heat exchanger and anitfreeze, the water ballasts are pulling in salt water . He went onto to say that the ballast pumps were in terrible shape when he opened them up to check the impellers. They were corroded badly and the impellers shafts were almost rusted out. Bottom line I would check out those ballast pumps soon to see if they need to be replaced.Originally posted by LakesideRec View PostJust purchased a 2015 SAN 210 Coastal that had a couple of years and over 1000 hours of salt use and moved it inland here to MN. Hopefully just the impeller needs to be replaced but you may discovered the whole pump is completely corrode from salt water once your open the pump coverOriginally posted by LakesideRec View Post
The Port side does fill a bit slow compared to the other side. So maybe that pump has some issues. Will check it out.

The impeller was just worn out. Several vanes were cracked and the ends worn down pretty good. The brass pump body has some surface corrosion on the inner surface, but no deep pitting. I should be able to easily clean it up when I get the replacement impeller (ordered).Originally posted by GMLIII View Post
