Replace blower on 2015 G23

My blower stopped working so I removed it by disconnecting the wiring at the connector. I noticed the blower side of the wiring and the blower itself is connected via a 1/2" coil of wire for both positive and negative wires. Does anyone know if they are needed? what they do (resistor?)? where to get them? Thx!

Can you post a photo? I'm not sure I understand what you're describing.

I just added the picture. There was black shrink wrap on the whole connection. Hindsight, I would have just cut the wires from the blower!

Looks like there could be a resistor on the positive lead. Hard to tell from the photo.

It's wire wrapped around a hard plastic (or possibly metal) rod about 1/2" long.

Can't tell from the photo but from your description, it's a capacitor or sometimes called a "choke" to reduce high frequency noise from the motor.

Turns out the new blower came with the "chokes" but when installed the new blower does NOT work either so must be a fuse or wiring issue. Hard to trace those wires, any clues where a fuse or the like might be? BTW, with the blower "unplugged" from the connector, I used a continuity tester in the battery side plug and it cause a "fault" on lync screen which seems to indicate that wiring is ok??? Any help would be appreciated. Thx!

What type of continuity tester? If your going battery to ground then you are effectively shorting out the positive side to ground so yes it will fault. Sounds to me like it might be a bad ground from the blower side then as the positive or "battery" side wiring seems good if its faulting back to the linc.

Update: turns out it was the stock connector that was bad. Took a a lot of testing to figure it out. I just bypassed the connector and direct wired it. Dealer said that it what they do all the time (I didn't question that, but should have!). All is working well now.
