I could be wrong, but you have a XS550 and it may not have the filter because of the different exhaust manifolds. The service bulletin only refers to the XR550.

The XR550 has traditional cast iron catalyst manifolds. The XS550 has polished SS manifolds that dump in what looks like long tube headers. Look at the pic in SVXTC last post. So the XS is a completely different setup? Can't understand how they can work differently but be the same motor with one just dressed up to look fancier. Gotta be a thermostat in there somewhere I would think.Originally posted by Evening Shade View Post

I don't know for sure. I just saw that SVXTC has the XS550 and the service bulletin only mentions the ZR6, ZR450, and XR550, not the XS550. There doesn't have to be a thermostat.
