  • PCM 450 engine codes

Not sure what happened. We were just idling back and the display shows up a few errors and then the manifolds got really hot that the paint started to discolored...

DTC 116: ECT Higher than expected stage 1
DTC 217: ECT Higher than expected stage 2
    DTC 1413 EMWT2 voltage low
    DTC 1413 EMWT1 voltage low
DTC 1415 EMWT1 higher than expected stage 1
DTC 1416 EMWT2 higher than expected stage 1
Aux temp 1 higher - most severe level

Im obviously going to call the dealer on monday but what causes this? Seems like something that should be covered under warranty

Overheating codes. When you get to stage 2 high levels, you are getting close to engine damage. Hopefully everything works out fine.

Probably be fine. Sounds like you caught it early.

Be sure to check the raw water intake scoop on the bottom of the boat often. I've found it's square shape is prone to collecting leaves/grass/whatever which can restrict water flow to the engine. This was a 2013 G23.

Pulled the boat out to take it to the dealer and sure enough the whole intake was covered in weeds / leafs... Cleaned it up and ran the boat for a while at riding speeds / wot / idle and the temps were fine! Thanks guys! Everything seems to run fine, gonna change the oil on it as it ran warm for a while.

This boat has both the coolant loop and the raw water intake. What cools what, i have no found the description in the manual?

The water entering the intake on the bottom of the boat circulates around the closed coolant loop that contains the antifreeze solution.

gotcha... thanks. Anyone know where the transmission cooler is? On the other boats we have its also a place to check for weed build up...

Indmars have an external ransmission oil heat exchanger. But the newer pcm transmissions circulate water through a cooling jacket in the transmission, if I am recalling it correctly.

Correct. Just the main inline raw water filter which is under the floor boards next to the batteries.
