Chasing the dimensions of your trailers, length, width, braked (electronic/fluid), light set up and coupling dimensions.

Specifically interested in the width at the axle, from the outside of the wheel to the outside of the opposite wheel?

Also interested in what coupling is used, ie what sized tow ball will most of them fit as standard.

Pics would be amazing.

i can probably help you out. are you looking for overall width with tires or wms to wms (wheel mounting surface). the overall width could change with different wheel and tire setups.

mine has fluid surge brakes, a 2" ball will be standard.

I have a 2002 single axle Ramlin Wishbone trailer for my boat. It's a 2" ball and there is a 4 pin flat hook up for the lights. Mine has fluid controlled drum based surge breaks. I probably won't have my boat out of it's enclosure until Sunday but I can take some measurements then if nobody else has gotten you the info you need. I believe the widest point of my trailer is the guide poles and not the outside of the tires but the posts are only held on by two large bolts so they could be removed easily if needed. These images were snagged off of google image but my trailer is similar to these:

if you could that would be great. I have noticed the poles before but weren't too concerned about them.

The issue I'm facing is if I import a trailer and boat from the US, the trailer cannot be wider than 2.5 meters at any point. I've read that an 03 SANTE has a beam of 2.35 meters.

Further to that, there is a limit in total trailer weight, and these limits dictate what type of braking system the trailer has to have. Along with certain coupling specs.

i don't suppose your trailer plate has the unladen weight specs?

i need some of this for the import permit!

Good to see you plan to bring another fine Nautique to our country.
If you are bringing in a 210 SANTE it will be over the 2t limit for override brakes, you will need a dual axle trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes and breakaway system that can apply the brakes and hold them on for 15mins after becoming detached from the vehicle. This needs to act on all 4 wheels.

Our SANTE 03 on a trail rite trailer is around 2300kg fully fueled. We had to add discs and calipers to the rear axle, add a Hydrastar with breakaway syste and change the coupling from US 2"/52mm to AUS 50mm. This also adds to your total weight.

You will also require an electric brake controller in the cab of your tow vehicle.

Did you bring yours over from the US? If you did I would be keen to pick your brain.
I've got the electric coupling, no dramas there.

Did it work out cheaper to retrofit the boat trailer instead of buying a new one here when landed?
What about the total width, that's what I'm most worried about. The ADR states 2.5 metres and I know the beam of the boat is 2.35 m...

Yes we imported our SANTE.
Definatly cheaper to bring one over with a trailer, as long as you can find one suitable (dual axle, under 98").
My trailer measures 97" (2465mm aus), from outer wheel arch to outer wheel arch.
I rewired the trailer front to rear with LED lights, Hydrastar and breakaway system. All strait forward 12v wiring. In Vic I believe you also need an independent handbrake. If you look close you can see where they had to cut off the wheel arches to fit in the container.

did you get the hydrastar 1600 kit? I will be doing this to my trailer over our winter

what is the kit like to fit?, luckily my trailer already has 2 wheel discs

the guards were cut off my trailer too when it was brought in....no other mods needed to be done to the actual trailer apart from wiring & hitch

I am in Vic so that will be interesting about the hand brake as I dont think the Hydrastar has one so not sure what to do there

I used and recomend the Hydrastar 1200, the 1600 can be too much pressure for the brake calipers, then you end up blowing out the piston seals. The whole system was pretty straight forward to fit. I got the extra hard lines made up at the local brake and clutch shop.

My trailer already had single hyd discs, so just needed to add to the rear axle.

Most people add cable overide calipers and conect it to a leaver at the rear of the tow hitch to use as a handbrake. so you end up with 6 calipers on 4 wheels.

Who did you import the boat with? Can you PM me the details regarding cost, time, location and any pros or cons you had mate?

The company I am looking at using doesn't put the boats in containers, they roll on/off.

In regards to the handbrake; I have never seen one of those on a big trailer down here. And we have a boat on a tandem trailer and a tandem horse float that both or horses roll in. They have electric brakes and the only 'hand brake' type thing I have ever seen if the hydraulic handle for the non-electric brakes?
