Thanks for the quick response. I'm still not getting it. I copied and added arrows to the pic. So, did you remove the cotter pin and slide the link to the right? Or did you just move the cotter pin from my blue arrow and place it where the red arrow is? It's pretty difficult to see up in there all the way

Ignore where your blue arrow is... The pin was in the "S'" shaped piece the the immediate left of your red arrow. (the upside-down U) When you pull out the pin you will see the groove that receives it. Slide the cable back enough so that the groove lines up with where your red arrow is pointing. (The right-side up U) Re-insert the pin and check the movement of the throttle. The binding should be gone.Jason

Couldn't wait, I had to try it tonight. I pulled the pin and saw the groove that receives it. The only direction I could pull the cable was to the right (fwd). When I do this, it just starts pulling the throttle cable out of itself (adding throttle/fuel). When I try to push it aft it will not move at all, like it's at the end of its range.
Like I said before, it feels like the friction is within those plates behind the throttle lever, but only just fwd into idle, and just aft into reverse. After those spots it is smooth as can be in either direction.
My boat is a late 03 and actually has 04 graphics, maybe it is different in some small way? The pictures look the same other than yours not having one of those small rubber grommets inside that link, but there are no other grooves or detents for it to lock in to.
I put the pin back where it was and lubed the crap out of it, then worked it back and forth in and out of gear (engine off of course) and it did seem to loosen a little, but I'm still not satisfied. Any other suggestions (other than going to the dealer)? I wish I could see a schematic of it.
Thanks!

Try taking the linkage loose from the throttle lever one at a time. Say remove the shift linkage, then cycle the throttle lever to see if it frees up. If not reconnect it and remove the throttle linkage, then cycle the lever. This should give you a better idea of which cable is giving you the binding, if either, and you can go further from there.
I'm not sure why your cable wouldn't move back. It's just about 1/2". I would think there should be no problem moving it that much. I don't remember mine being difficult to move once the pin was removed. Good luck with it.Jason

It wont move aft at all, not even 1/8 inch. My pin was originally in the "U" section of the link (the farthest one fwd), and it won't even move aft to the "upside down U" section. When I get more time and know that we are not going to ride anytime soon, I will take it apart. Thanks for responding and trying to help.
