    Nothing past idol

So I took my boat camping this weekend, and showed up Friday afternoon and put the boat in the water (keep in mind, first time this season), and it ran like a champ up and down the lake, multiple engine start and stops, nothing wrong at all. Well I go to fire it up Saturday morning and I have nothing past idol. Hit it and it takes off, and the studers pretty bad and wants to go back to idol. It did this for the rest of the weekend.

    Notes:

It did this to me before, and it was the air filter that was dirty and needed to be cleaned.

Just put a brand new battery in

I pulled the hose off the fuel pump intake and it was sucking pretty good.

I did pull the fuel filter out and gave it a shot of air from the air compressor, and some dirt (little bit, but noticeable amount came out) I did however try and run some water through it with gravity pressure and I would get nothing, and if i flipped the inlet down, it would trickle out, and if i shook it I could feel the water shaking inside.

PS i will for sure put a new filter in after the water test.

    Any ideas?

Its a 95 SS with a GT-40. I belive I figured it out, it's the fuel filter. Just pick the new one I order up today and I will be running the boat tomorrow, I'll keep you posted.

Was gonna say, that sounds like a fuel problem. I had the same thing in an old boat a long time ago. The pickup in the tank was sucking up crap from the bottom of the tank into the pickup and plugging it. It'd work at idle but die at speed.

Bad news, not the fuel filter. Same thing, got to the 5mph buoys hit it and there's nothing there. Seemed a litte better, but cuts out really bad.

I had a similar issue with a 96 Indmar Monsoon. turned out to be clogged injectors. Try running some cleaner through your system.

I did throw some cleaner in before this last trip. Still had nothing. It just seems like a simple fix that I cant seem to fiqure out. Thought might have been a ground issue aswell but wasnt that either.

do you have pp, if you do check and see if the cable is slack? i also had similar prob with my old 95 ss. pull your flame arrester off and when you are in the water, gun it and all 4 injectors should be pushing the same amount of gas. those injectors are discontinued. ski dim sells a full pod kit with all four new style injejectors. when i spent the 400bucks it fixed the problem.

No PP, do you know what the part number is aa ski dim. And wheres that flame thing? The boats at West Coast CC right now, they did a fuel pressure tes today and everything came back fine. Any other ideas. Question: if a boat goes in "safe mode" it there a way to test that, and also turn it off ar bypass it?

flame arrester is what everyone calls a air filter. i had good fuel pressure too, the injectors are after where they took the pressure reading. i think i might still have my old fuel pod with the old injectors, i forgot which one was bad though. you can have it, just check to make sure all your injectors are pushing the same amount of fuel.
