2007 SV211 Refresh

FMSKI, amazing project. As anyone knows a stock SV211 is NOT a good slalom boat. My 86 SN2001 was way better. But you couldn't surf behind it. Great work.

We skied a TSC1 yesterday, and there was sizeable wake at 28off, but because the boat is small (feels like a fairground amusement ride boat) lots of terrain to cut. He has the back seat in etc. My 2001 I added trim tabs - v/narrow boat with that motor-too-heavy for the size planing angle.

No way around it, trying to lift weight comes at a cost of disturbance, so my process of weight reduction is best for slaloming. At this stage I couldn't go back to a 196, too small a boat. The 200 was good, you can ski that with 4 people aboard, but it doesn't surf either.

This is as close to my ideal boat as I can get. Eg Im not sure a 200V is worth it, doesn't have the ballast carrying capacity, and the GS20 or 22 is too big @ 4700lbs +. I did see the Malibu VTX has a center pylon but it's a beast and not a Nautique

Then loaded up the ballast (bow, lockers and some extra since just two surfers today). Thought might as well move the ski plyon back for an extended tow point, as I don't have the tower on. Couple of coffees. Dropped the FMSS plate on the starboard side and baam what a wake!

Wild that this was actually doable. Great performance in both modes. FM Ski 'n Surf concept complete!

Looks good. What's the boat speed for the slalom wake?

The speed in that shot is 32.9, I dropped it a bit today cause my ski bud had a hard day of MTB.
But on that note, the plates down make for better slow speed wakes. I ran full down at 30mph and my neighbor skied 28 looked good.

At 34mph fully deployed created the ruckus, and it's best to pull them up. I can see the FMSS plastic bases directing enough flow to trim the wake as shown.

It's quite subtle in that when the wake is too much (hollow or rooster) it is hard to execute the proper balance between pull and turn. If the wake is flat to a critical level, then proper slalom rhythm can be achieved. We are at the threshold now, where you can ski a good set.

Had the pylon system apart for sealing the yellow cedar. Added some clearance to make it easier to move, since that was not the original plan, but for surfing without a tower is a real benefit. So ski, surf and use the short stubby for tubing. I have one modified u-bolt on the rear mid-mount. The rear has a push-in base block and the CNC bezel fit at the top, which is all pretty cool, nice snug fit.

Skied the TSC1 boat (GT40, classic Perfect Pass) for last 3 days. Back to the S'nSV211 today. The 211 pull is more solid, and wake awesome at 32off. There is a bit more trough for sure but no rooster at the line length. The strength of the pull alone, is worth using the 211 between the two. For the 2025 Mastercraft prostar, they also mounted the ski pylon to the hull structure for a better connection. It does make a difference. I have GPS PP speed control too.

Unfortunately, if adhering to marine engineering standard, Nautique could not build this specification and have it certify. I add 2500lb of ballast, the moveable pylon/plates are a user-risk element, the swim platform is not lifetime. It needs to be the proverbial Swiss Army knife of boats.

Safe ballast carry is the reason the model lineup are essentially big barges, which kinda foregoes the ability for proper slalom skiing.
