    east_tx_skier;

    It's my understanding that you still set it up to drip. Which I set mine up to drip a drop every couple of seconds. The cool thing is that it was virtually effortless to get it set up. I had turned it way too tight to start with. The old wax rope I needed to use two hands with gloves to get the packing nut tight enough. This was one hand and it completely stopped dripping so I had to back it off. It obviously provides a better seal with considerably less tension on the packing nut which has to mean less friction on the driveshaft (but I'm certainly no rocket scientist). It has been in for a couple months now so I was going to try tightening it up a little more to see how it worked with less drip even. I would still rather have some drip than risk screwing up my driveshaft or anything else.

      Thanks for the reply. I agree. Better to have a little water dripping into the bilge and not need it, than to need a little drip and not have it.
