A Loyal Nautique Owner’s Plea to Correct Craft: Please Reconsider Your Decision

As a Nautique owner for 30+ years, I just learned that Correct Craft has pulled the Nautique line from Active Water Sports in Oregon—after 40+ years of amazing service—and handed it to a new dealer 200+ miles away with no track record and a gravel lot for a store.

I’ve bought four Nautiques from Warren at Active. Their service, facilities, and team are unmatched. This move makes zero sense and punishes loyalty, quality, and investment.

Read my open letter to Correct Craft below. If you're a fellow Nautique owner, I hope you'll speak up too. Let’s not let a legendary dealership get pushed aside. #SupportActiveWaterSports #NautiqueFamily #CorrectCraft

    Dear Correct Craft,

As a passionate Nautique owner for over 30 years, I feel compelled to speak out about a deeply disappointing and perplexing decision that directly affects not only me, but countless loyal Nautique owners across the Pacific Northwest.

I’ve personally purchased four new Nautiques from Active Water Sports in Oregon over the years, along with two of my neighbors who recently ordered brand-new Ski Nautiques. Why? Because Warren and his team have consistently delivered exceptional service, knowledgeable support, and an ownership experience that goes far beyond expectations. The parts department, the pro shop, the service crew—every piece of the Active Water Sports experience reflects what a true Nautique dealership should be.

To hear that Warren—after more than 40 years as a trusted partner and ambassador for your brand—is being replaced by a completely unproven dealer 200+ miles away, operating out of a leased building in a gravel lot, is not only baffling... it's a gut punch.

Active’s Canby location is a multi-million-dollar facility built specifically to support Nautique owners. It offers indoor rack boat storage, concierge-level support, a massive showroom, and one of the most experienced service teams in the country. Add to that two other Active locations with Nautique representation and pro-level gear, and you have brand coverage and customer experience that any manufacturer would dream of. Why throw that away?

This isn’t just about geography. It’s about trust, community, and the years it takes to build relationships that support a premium brand like Nautique. Anyone who’s owned a high-end inboard knows that after-sale service is everything, and Active has earned our loyalty by showing up every time.

I know firsthand from experience in the industry: opening new stores doesn’t guarantee success—it guarantees years of struggle. Brand loyalty is earned, not transferred. And service departments don’t grow overnight.

Warren’s team is financially strong, with deep inventory, experienced staff, and a community that rallies behind them. I attended their “Evening with the Stars” event last fall, where over 1,000 people showed up—an amazing turnout that speaks volumes.

So please, from one passionate Nautique owner to those guiding the brand’s future: this decision is a mistake. It doesn’t reflect the Christian values or legacy I’ve long associated with Correct Craft and Nautique. Punishing a proven, dedicated partner for temporary economic conditions while replacing them with someone untested is short-sighted and unfair.

Your existing dealer has done everything right—please don’t abandon them, or us.

    Sincerely,
A 30-Year Nautique Owner and Advocate

Curious. There must be a backstory here somewhere. I wonder what it is. Who's the new dealer? 200 miles is a long ways away from the Portland Metro area.
2004 206 Air Nautique Limited - Black with Vapor Blue (family style)
1997 Masters Edition Nautique - Zephyr Green - gone (amazing ski wake)
1982 Mastercraft Powerslot - gone (a primitive but wonderful beast)

It is Lifestyle.they were only in Bend, OR, over 200 miles away. They are building a new dealership in Camas, WA. They sold 20 Nautiques last year, Warren at Active sold 90 boats. Correct Craft "felt" like Active wasn't gettign enough market share. Ridiculous to take a 40 year relationship after Warren spent millions on a building a facility in Canby, OR at Correct Craft's request. That's the backstory

So the rest of the story would be who are the other local dealers selling Mastercrafts, Supras, Centurion, Malibu etc. and how many boats are they moving annually? What's the market representation on the local lakes between the brands?

In NH our biggest lake (by a long shot) didn't have a Nautique dealer on it. And the boat brands on the lake reflected that (lots of Mastercrafts, Nautiques far and few between).
But instead of moving the dealer (who's on a tiny lake) they added a smaller outfit as an extension of the existing dealer. Lots more Nautiques on the lake now.

Sorry Eric but I disagree. If you haven’t met the folks at Lifestyle wake I’d be happy to introduce you to them. Even bring a new Nautique by for you to see. The figures quoted above for boats sold are also all wrong. There are two sides to every story, be careful what you read on the internet.
