Greggmck....can I ask....why you went with the regular tower as opposed to the power tower on the new G23? I don't like the bulk of the actuated tower bases...that would probably be my reason for sticking with the standard tower...but was curious to see why you went manual. I have to go in/out of the garage every time I use my boat...so I was leaning toward power.....but dam...those bases are huge and ugly.

That's easy. We keep our boat on a very tall under cover lift all year long. I have never lowered the tower on 5 Gs. Just no need for it.

Yep....that's what I told my daughter's boyfriend when were were looking at the pic this morning. I bet he keeps the tower UP all the time....therefore...no need for power tower. Post a pic on the water when you get a chance. Love the Steel Blue !!!

IMHO, originality thought the power tower bases were big and bulky too, not anymore. The non power bases look too small and wimpy even on 19-20 and especially in 21+. And the ease of up down... super nice.

For surfing the ZZ6 with the 2:1 trans and 17 x 17 prop offers more than enough power at sea level even with the 900 lbs of lead and 4 people it drove and responded just like my 2020 G.

Where are you placing the lead to make it replicate the paragon wave.

Dustin....this was from his post on Page 2 of this thread.....After this shocker we went back to our slip and put 900lbs of lead that we removed from our 2020 G23 into the new 2021 G. 550 lbs went under the port rear flip-up seat and 350 lbs went under the starboard side seat to mimic the weight of the tower and larger motor in the Paragon. It was too late to go back out so we went home.

Thanks Greg. When you say the wave was too soft without the extra weight, can you give a comparison to that vs your old G23? Is it still a surfable wave for you? Or did Paragon just raise the bar to high?

In clarification of where you put your weights, nothing under the port side flip up love seat, just the flip up bench correct? Would be a big difference if you put it under the flip up love seat storage area where the amps are?

I got my G25 on order, and am very curious as to where I should place the weights.

We had the 2021 G23 for less than 24 hours. My goal was to quickly see if I could replicate the wave of the Paragon. I placed the 900lbs in the flip up rear seats storage areas in the center of the underseat storage lockers. 350 lbs went on the starboard side and 550 lbs went on the port side. The wave was equal in every way to the Paragon and by far the best of any boat I have ever surfed. Not even close! In fact it might have been a bit more firm than the Paragon and if I had time I would experiment to soften it up. The first thing I would do to soften the wave would be to move 200 lbs from underneath the port rear flip up seat to the front passenger swing up seat (where the sub and amps are located). This might be the ideal configuration but I would have to experiment to know for sure.

For the 2021 G25 I would start with 900 lbs but you may want/need to go all the way up to 1100 lbs. Start with 900lbs, in the flip up rear under seat lockers, just as I did for the G23, 350 lbs starboard, 550 lbs port. If you want more wave, purchase another 200 lbs and put that in the hinge up front passenger seat area by the subs.

                              Done. Thanks for the advise.

I'm not asking that you write the Iliad or the Odyssey, but I request that you to "put a bow" on this comparison of the two boats...
