    What Next????

So in theory our Pro Air is being picked up saturday morning....

Needed to free up some cash for a rental property so it had to go. Should be back in the market say around Christmas maybe a little earlier for something new to us.

    What we do:

Most Weekends: Family of 4 plus a few extra family members.... Cruising, Toobing, and our oldest is just starting to board and ski. We've tried surfing when the water sucks and have plenty of people that want to surf now. Obviously a slammed Pro Air isn't real conducive for family outings and/or surfing. .

I've got a few lake neighbors that will go on dawn patrol with me plus our oldest son and my sister. My wife is sleeping beauty
-Kinda run the table on these outings: Board, Wake Skate, Ski, Etc... We don't expect for a slalom wake with a v-drive and one of the mentioned neighbors has a slalom boat if we feel so inclined.

What I see coming: Our kids are making more and more friends so I see full family days coming up in the next few years. We need more space. Saying all that, we are never going to have 15 people headed to party cove.

    Boat Qualifications:

-We launch and load every day but have a "private" ramp at the lakehouse. Towing isn't a problem so weight isn't an issue.
-Barn Size: I'm in trouble here I think. It's long and wide enough to park whatever you want to put in there but the current door opening is : 86in Tall and rafters behind are 86 7/8. I know most modern boats are lucky to fit in a 8ft garage. I've got a carport that's 9.5' or so but i hate the thought of it baking in the texas sun.
    - Our lake gets rough in a hurry. I've gotten used to being worried about burying the nose at all times but something a little easier would be nice.

    * I don't want new and the $100k price tag. I'd really love to be in the 30k-50k range but not sure how possible that is in a correct craft anymore even with an older boat.
    * Whatever we buy will have a healthy down payment but some sort of note on the balance so not worrying about it constantly while making payments would be great. I.E. I don't really want to make payments on a beat up salt water boat with 2000 hours.
    * I don't care to have the latest and greatest just functional. We will probably buy something and keep it for a long time.
    * Something that has a good layout for kids crawling around. What year did they go to snap in carpet?
    * I don't really care to have a screen in a boat. I'm more of a fan of traditional gauges.. (In my price range I doubt that matters)

    Suggestions on year and size?

-I've always liked the lines and interior layout of the 06-08 220. Would a 210 of that vintage be enough size for us as well? I had a moment this year and was about to walk away with a 01 Python SAN but didn't really feel like the interior or size was going to be much better for us. I really just wanted the motor

We had an 09 216V and it was a great boat with a ton of space for a boat that size and would for sure be in your budget. It had the FCT3 tower which was their first two point tower and can be folded in about a minute.

I think you're already on the right path with a 210 or 220. My only concern with either of those would be the height.

So I know you had one based on your Screen Name but but don't let this offend you. I'm all about function but I still want my boat to look good. Something about the 216v was always off to me. Didn't feel like it had good lines. I know that isn't the best reason to discount it but I can't help it.

From research it appears I might be able to barely squeek one in to the barn but only with a titan tower and with every trick in the book. Drop Hitch, Air out of Tires, Etc. I know what trailer it sits on will play a part as well.

The barn might get rebuilt in the next few years but not right now. I could always stick it in the carport during the season and then go through all the hassle of putting it in the barn in the fall.

I crawled around an 07 210 last year at buxton and loved it. I just wander if I really need the extra size of a 220 for what we want.

Yeah sounds like you need to go check a few of them out. Bring a tape measure too.

              Yep,

I need to cruise up to Buxton and measure some boats to get an idea on height.

Seems as though the change from 06 to 07 in the 210s as far as interior room is fairly significant. Anybody with that vintage 210 cram 4 adults and some kids in there all day? Enough livable space?

Trey, Swatguy on here has that vintage 210 and the same size family, I will txt you his contact info to pick his brain about that boat. If you will need to fold tower often you definitely want to find one with the non FCT tower, Titan IIRC. which is much lighter and easier to fold. He has the Titan as does NautiqueHunter on this site.

Hope your buyer and his cash show up on Saturday

                    Thanks amigo!

And yea I don't count my chickens before they hatch. Cash in hand is the only true "sold"... luckily I've got 2 other back up offers if he folds.

I don't want to sell it in prime boating season at all but it primes the pump for something nicer and gets us some cash that will make us money long term.

Not sure of height on trailer, but there are definitely some nice 230s out there in your price range, too.

230 will fit the bill. Can be found around $50k and you can always lower the tower.

220 is a nice size boat, but I have heard it can be weight finnicky when doing board sports. I am not sure I am good enough to know better though.

230s seem huge to me. I have a good buddy with a Maristar 230 I've driven a few times and it's a large lady. I'm sure the difference between that and the 220 is minimal they just seem large to me.

I think I've read similar somewhere. I certainly wouldn't know the difference between a good and bad wake. With very few exceptions most of the people on our boat are beginners at best.
