The bags I had up front were a pain because the shape was way off and the vents/fills were all in the wrong spots. Those you have designed look perfect.
Where exactly did you put the lead under the drivers seat? is there access to that space underneath? I didnt really see any.

It sounds like there is enough interest that we should do group buy. I planned to talk to fly high later this week about the cost to custom order and also if we have a couple of buyers....

There is a little silver panel by the drivers heels. Just big enough to get my home made bread pan bricks through with my hand on them.

There is a lot of space down there. Could be a possible custom bag location, prollay 400-500 lbs. Would be all under the floor and not use existing storage space. Especially good if you were going to plumb it in.

Could match it up on the passenger side with a tube sack or something that just fills the deep well portion of the underseat storage compartment. Wouldn't lose no space on the driver side and only a little on the passenger side, and add 800 lbs or so.

**This is all from memory, may be much smaller, I haven't been in the boat for a couple months, but I remember the space being large enough Nautique should have used it for something.

ironj32, given your experience im trusting what you say. I can def see how there is a lot of room in the front and up the walls.

My only comment is the space I measured is 8" tall and you have them shown as 12" tall. I dont see how there is extra room beyond the 8" height to justify a taller bag.

also I think if plumbing them in the top vents at the fatter end of the triangle need to be on the angled side, not the flat side. That way they are closer to the side of the boat to use for an overflow. The other vent seems properly placed to access when the seat is open.

This is what Im thinking. Excuse the crappy pic and handwriting as I dont have the time to make it quite as fancy as the other one. This seems a decent compromise for how I am guessing the space will accommodate the bow bags and accounting for overflow vents.

The mid/rears I am going with a single configuration but if double the previously mentioned one seems great. Always easy to switch to the double.

The odd top vent placed 31 inches from the end puts it roughly at the front of the rear gunnel and is best place for out of way overflow vent.

Also in my part list forgot the shutoff valves for the thru hull and the clamps for that. Also 4 backflow preventers (for overflows) and clamps for those.

I may have answered my own question about OEM ballast parts. Found this site:

                http://www.nautiqueparts.com/ballasttank.aspx

and they appear to offer the thru hull and side ports that look to me just like the ones that are on the G23. Anyone know for sure? I plan to email them as well to see if they know.

Not that the parts are special but i'd be nice to have ones that match to make it look professional.

I made mine taller than the space allows because I prefer to not have the bags bulging and busting at the seams. When those bags get completely full there begins to get a lot of pressure in there and they pressing up on the bottom of the seats, frames, hinges. If you do them a bit taller, it releaves the force that's exerted. it will also allow for the bags to fill up the side walls more. If you get down and reach around and measure along the outsides, you'll see that there is a lot of room.

The reason I have both vents on the inside edge is because I do more of my filling manually. I put the hose on the rear one, and then just crack the forward one a bit to let the air out. I could see how placing it on the wide side would be beneficial if you were doing an auto ballast, and didn't need to do any manual filling.

Great points. I think I will increase the size of the bags in all directions to account for your comments. Thanks again for all your help. I think I am goign to go ahead and order parts and get things going and will post pics once I have it done.

Well Ive got it all plumbed in. I will post some pictures and have an install doc if anyone is interested. I am having to reroute the hoses for the bow as right now the starboard has less resistance and fills faster so you cant fill the front halfway or one side has too much water. Once I reroute those hoses and have it officially "completed" i will post some stuff.

Right now it works great though. especially if i want to have extra weight in one side for surfing and switch to the other side its quick and easy. Thanks a ton for everyone that provided assistance to this project. I will say after years I finally have a boat that has all the weight i would want at the touch of a button.

That 550 acts like the weight isnt even in there btw. Fantastic boat. Thanks Nautique!

Been a while but any chance you can post some more information on how you completed your installation?

I added 2 800lb ronix sacs to stock system all I did is t into the stock hoses before they go into stock sacs along transom I did not do vents because its really not necessary they fill after the stock ballast fills when the second sacs fill it then over fills out the stock vents of the stock bags. When you empty the secondary bags empty first and suck everything out then it empties stock bags

Chris, how long have you been running this setup, do you put any extra weight up front, and what settings do you run?
