200 has the Hydrogate. I'd be OK with 43 on a three blade. Don't like hard starts anyway. FWIW, my current "M" boat does 48.3 (GPSed) with Indmar engine. The upcharge to the 409 would be a killer pricewise methinks.

That's about what we saw, maybe 41.5 with the gate up. RPMS were where they needed to be. It is slower.

Just confirmed with Jeff that MSRP on the ZR6 is 6K. What your dealer would sell it for may differ.

Oldslalomskier, that e-mail I sent you was from the MC driver I posted about. Just sayin' boss!!

I hate to say it, but 40 -41.5 for the 343 isn't going to cut it for the footers. I'd bet pulling a footer you would only get 39.

6K/40 mph could be a deal breaker for many I fear.

It a heavier boat with more surface area in the water. It's not that suprising that it is slower. Fortunatly I don't pull skiers at full throttle.

Same weight as a Malibu Response and beam about 1" diff. And almost ten mph slower? I have to wonder if this is aprop issue (4/3 blade etc.)

When you look at the hull design you will understand why it is slower.

You can also look at the way a Supra Comp TS6M goes through the water, Just like a SN 200.

The Supra hull is also very slow.

Top speed is not relevant anyway and the truth is I only ran it up once just out of curiosity. The 196, digital throttle and 409 make adjusting speed for footing or anything else that does not require ZO the responsive boat I have ever driven.
Only 49 with the hydrogate up? My uncles 196/ZR6 (04, pre-hydrogate) is good for 49-50 on the GPS. Word is that the 196/409 is generally good for 52.5-53.5. A difference of about 3mph with the hydrogate seems typical. The CCF 196 (with a tweaked hull) consistently runs 55+.

40.5 with the gate down seems consistent with 43 top end (gate up). Thats a real bummer for footers who like any sort of speed- most I know like 41+ for one-footers (I like 43-44 longline). I too had hoped that the 200 hull would be faster since it looks like it sits up higher in the water like the Malibus do. Somehow they managed to make it as slow as the MC 197... 42-44mph seems to be the norm with those boats with the MCX (350hp).

Too bad. Bring back the Barefoot Nautique! Yellow_Flash_Colorz:
