I used to say there were two laws of nature that seemed to be applied only to me...One was that at the very moment I turned to look at some good looking woman was the very moment my girlfriend turned to look at me, then what I was looking at, and two, the moment I stepped on the platform to put my ski on was the same moment every jet ski on the lake came out. The dangers of skiing on public water come in many disguises.
Most tubers/ boaters/ jet skiers we have problems with have the fundamental problem of ignorance. It would be as if I sprayed a fisherman as I went by without even knowing what I did. Some people just never seem to get it, and that also applies to some inboard owners I know. A friend of mine, not a hardcore skier, but Nautique owner none-the-less, still just does not understand the proper ways to drive, which includes the incredibly simple button hook back through the wake. This despite the fact he has been out with me god knows how many times since I bought my first nautique in 86. As I've grown older and hopefully wiser, I've come to terms with fact some days on the water just aren't meant to be, but I enjoy them just the same. No longer will some jerk on a jet ski ruin my morning or weekend.
For me, tubing has its place, but it is a very small place. it is usually after trying to get friends or acquaintances kids up on a board or ski unsuccessfully, and no wanting them to miss out entirely. So, coming back 'round to answer the guy's original question, I tie my tube off on my transom mounted pull peg ('93 SN). I find this gives the best whip effect and keeps the tow line out of the boat entirely.

I have to agree with a lot of you even growing up I hated tubes becasue they take up too much room in the boat. As an adult I've pulled tubes but only after the "you must waterski or attempt to waterski before I will pull the tube or even a kneeboard". But then the Seyvlor Manta Ray was invented and...,you still have to water ski first, and know I have a dock to put it on when not in use, but whoo hoo fly baby fly! Tubing has been reinvented, and so has breking bones and death, but what a thrill! Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

now if you want to see people being stupid with tubes, go to youtube and type in "kite tube." we had one of these things, briefly, when it came out, and it was really fun, wait I mean terrifying. You needed an air speed of like 35 to get airborne and they were extremely unstable... really fun for a short time until it starts to sway back and forth and you have one "moderate" crash and you realize how unbelievably dangerous it is. In fact, the National Product Safety Commission (or something similar) recalled all of them, from stores, and asked stores to contact any owners and send them a notice to stop using them, etc... you tube, check it out, it's scary
How 'bout a little reverse action...

Ok, anybody who wakesurfs has no room to complain about tubes. That creates massive wakes and can really mess up some water.
I'm not saying don't do it, if you're on a public lake everyone has the right to do their legal activity of choice. I'm just saying don't complain about tubers.

This morning my wife and I were slalom skiing and some guys were wakesurfing and the size of that wave and damage done to the smooth water was incredible. I felt like I was back in the intercoastal waterway in Louisiana where I grew up and passing barges again. That was always interesting skiing. Don't remember what kind of boat it was (not CC), but I am grateful it took them so long to get their ballast set up so we did get some good water.

I've seen plenty of wakesurfers before but never when it was early and smooth. This was the first time I got to see what they do to smooth water.
