BKinsocal or anyone else on the board please excuse this hijack but I have never done a houseboat trip. However, we are doing Powell the last week in July this year on the biggest/baddest 75' extreme houseboat out of Antelope Point Marina. Any suggestion or recommendations of things to do/bring? I know the basics but am curious if there is any speicfic house boat recommendations....

I did Powell two summers ago and I'm doing it again next Summer. My big recommendation for Powell is as many gas cans as you can bring. You'll have to run your A/C all night long cuz it'll be hot so the generator will be running and eating up gas. Plus, the marinas are few and far between so when you need something, and you will need something, it's quite a trek. It's much easier to fill your boat up off the talk from the houseboat, but you'll want the spare gas cans t fill the houseboat gas tank back up.

Make sure you go to Rainbow Bridge & Cathedral Canyon. Both are very cool.

Try to beach the boat going into the wind whenever possible. Powell can get very windy and being woken up in the middle of the night because the houseboat is sideways is a drag...been there, done that...ugh.

Other than that, just bring the typical essentials...booze & food. If you like the hard stuff, make sure you have more than enough as you WILL NOT find anymore in the marinas on the lake...Utah.

Enjoy your trip. Post pictures when you get back.

So jealous!!! I really need to make my way down that way one of these day. If nothing else, at least for a weekend. Cruise nice and slow for the fist couple of hours to learn where the sandbars are and then spend the rest of the time riding and having a great time!!!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. It really does look like a fantastic place.
