    Flight clips, Bow cover, Mildew

Just bought my first Nautique, a 2002 SANTE, and I am ecstatic about it. It's FANTASTIC! Ido have a couple questions though...

Like any used boat, it's not perfect. The previous owners have taken less than good care of the interior which resulted in mildew taking residence in the vynil. Does someone know a GREAT product or way to remove that? I have tried a few boat and household cleaners with mitigated results.

There are snaps on the bow for a snap-on cover but no cover. Were those factory made in 2002? Can I find a standard replacement for it? If so where?... or do I have to have it custom made?

I need board racks. I've read a lot of threads on flight clips, they seem good. Any particular advice on them and the 2002 flight control tower (whichever generation was standard in 2002). Cockpit dripping? Bindings catching? ... Are swivel racks that much better? I've seen them only on a MC and they actually were a pain in the derriere!

Sorry for the long post, any insight on those items would be much appreciated!

    Welcome Louis,

Sometimes it helps to post your city/state so people interested in your Seadoo have an idea if they need to travel down the street or across the country. Did you search the classifieds section? There were some flight clips posted a while back. Good looking boat, might want to add a tower mount mirror and bimini to that wish list too. There was a bimini that matched your boat perfectly on the classifieds a few months back, might still be available.

You might try Mr. Clean magic erasers on the mildew stains.

      Thanks Mike.

I have the bimini, the previous owner never insalled it, I will. I will be looking for a mirror mount during the winter.

I'm from Montreal, Canada, but I keep my boat in Vermont on Lake Champlain. I actually co-own the Nautique with a friend who lives there and I keep a summer place there to. The sea doo is all mine though... for now!

              Don't use the magic eraser.

This stuff removes dirt, stains, and mildew while conditioning the material. Squirt on a generous glob and rub it in.

just getting the boat into Summer sunlight will help bleach out the mildew stains. I second the opinion on the magic erasers. do not use them, they actually are a very fine abrasive. Until Summer comes around again, try to get the boat as dry as possible. Inside heated storage would be ideal, like a partially heated garage. If the boat is outside in the rain, and weather, at least a carport cover will be a great help. Do not just put a heater inside the boat, you need to make a provision for getting water and humidity out of the boat. Bringing the seat parts into the house might be another option.

                    bienvenue à bord

congrats on the purschase, you're gonna love it. I bought a 02 sante this summer and I love it. If you need anything for your boat, SG marine in Granby is a great place. I think it's the only CCraft dealer in our country.
why do you keep your boat in VT???

For your bow cover, you can just order from CC and get a snap kit. You will have to take your time and add one snap at a time to the cover, lay it on the bow, add another, lay it on the bow, and so on. I had to do this on my SAN.

Congrats on the boat, it looks great, love the colors !!

for the mildew removal, I actually us vinigar mixed with warm water. removes it fast and easy. then after I have gne over everything, I will use a soapy water mix again, and then finally some maguires 57. I think it wors great and still looks showroom after 3 seasons.

I have only had my flightclips for a few weeks, but I do not notice dripping inside the boat from them. They hold the boards straight up and down, so the drips tend to run outside the boat instead of inside the boat like most racks that are at less steep of an angle. However, you will not want to put boards with closed toe bindings on the inside holder of the racks, as the tower will press on the toe-part of closed toe bindings. Put those on the outside holder and they will be fine.

Personally, I think the Flight clips are so easy to load and unload on the 2nd Gen tower (yours is a 2nd gen), that I see no need at all for spinner racks. Actually, I think I'd rather have the flight clips, because I think the spinners hold the boards at a flatter angle, and you could get dripping in the boat from them. I do not speak from experience (regarding the spinners), however, just a theory.

Regarding the magic eraser, I used it on a pretty dirty interior when I bought my boat, and it worked well, but I would not recommend it. I agree that it is pretty hard on the vinyl. I used one on the walls of my house the other day and it worked great, but paint showed up on the eraser... meaning that paint was coming off the walls. I guess it really does act like a pencil eraser, by abrasion. I will not be using magic erasers so liberally in the future.

I also use a Woolite/water mix. It works very well and is mild so it will not hurt the vinyl at all.
