    Alright Guys,
I am your local State Farm Agent that has owned a few Nautiques over the years and have been a State Farm Agent for 17 years.

The advantage with State Farm is the simplicity of claim service and good value for the coverage.

State Farm is paying these boats on a replacement cost policy basis. That means, if you destroy your boat, we pay to replace it or pay the policy limit. Also for total losses we waive the deductible. That is significant for a wreck, fire or theft that totally destroys the boat.

I have customers that have raked the bottom off the boat (fin, shaft, prop) and I write the check myself with them choosing the place to repair the boat.

As for price, compare it to going with another boat brand. Can you get a boat cheaper than a Nautique.

Also, there are so many factors for each individual coverage, location, age of boat, etc, that it is very hard to get a rate that would be uniform geographically across this country.

That is my 2 cents worth,

    Thanks
    Thomas

Well said, Nautiqueman. I had to laugh at myself a bit when I read that.

While I don't feel double the price is really fair, and that SF wants more for the little CC Mustang than several here pay on their big new SANs, I have never really had a problem with them, and would expect a check in full in a day or two, hassle free. My biggest concern of all is jeopardizing my PLUP by piecemealing all my other policies out elsewhere to save a few dollars. Therefore, I keep it all in one place. I sleep better at night knowing that I do not have to worry about any of that stuff. There is value there.

        Thanks for the endorsement WakeSlayer...

Some of the larger insurance liability claims that insurance companies recieve are for people that let inexperienced drivers operate jet skis, and they hit someone in the water while trying to spray them and the person being sprayed is killed.

Liability is more important to all of us than the boat itself. Get personal liability umbrella coverage to get you covered. It will protect you for large liability claims. I find Nautique owners (especially newer Nautique owners) have a lot of net worth to protect in addition to the boat.

Also, I failed to mention, medical payments on State Farm policies covers injuries to all people on board including the riders. Make sure you have at least $5000 medical payments coverage to help out if someone falls and has to have knee surgery.

Enough insurance talk for now... so lets get on the water...

My State Farm Agent was NO help at all and quoted me a ridiculous price even though I have my house and cars with them. Maybe time for a new State Farm agent.

Ski Safe quoted me $505 for $37K hull, 300k liability, but it has a 25% Wind Storm Deductible deductible (over $8K).
          H20 Ski quoted $342 for a $37K hull, 300k liability with a $3700 Wind Storm deductible.
Progressive quoted $466 with NO Wind Storm deductible and 500k liability.

          Guess I'll keep progresive.

Just a reminder that most insruance companies give a small discount for boat safety courses - like the online course at Boat US.

All companies are "A" rated according to A.M Best

There are to many variables to just consider price. Most policies include liability coverage, pays if you cause property damage or bodily damage to someone else. Levels of coverage range from $50,000 to 1,000,000. Then there is hull coverage which covers your boat. This rate depends on the value, deductible, where the boat is stored and where the boat is used. Both rates are effected by the number and age of the drivers. You should make sure there isn't an exclusion for drivers not listed on the policy. Best bet is to make sure you have the right coverage. A $100 saved might not be worth much if you find out you don't have coverage because your buddy was driving the boat when you got in an accident.

I would like to chime in on this as I am ready to renew and shopping around for a better rate. I just found out from SkiSafe (current policy) that I am paying almost double what many are paying just for the state I live in (Texas). I was told by the rep that Texas and Florida carry the highest premiums, whether this is true accross all companies or just SkiSafe I do not know, but my coverage is almost double what some of the other guys on here are paying that have much newer boats and higher coverage values. SkiSafe by far quoted me the lowest amount $565 for a 03 210 Team - carried at a value of $49k (Trailer and stereo included in policy). Mine would have been much higher, but I carry a separate umbrella liability policy. Regardless in my situation StateFarm, Allstate and Progressive were nearly twice as much for the exact same coverage.

For our 2003 Air 206 we pay $450 / yr for $40K in coverage with Allstate. Although we have five cars and the home with them as well.
