Now that spring is here, it is time to start driving my '67 VW a little bit.
This was my first car, and I'll probably keep it forever.
Does anyone else have a classic car? If so, post some pictures!

Jeff, Nice car! That's gotta be fun. And to think that it was your first...

I used to have a 1986 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Coupe. Not really a classic, just old.

Thanks, fellows. That Ferrari had to be a blast to drive!

Very much a blast. The seats were rock hard, it had manual steering, the steering wheel blocked the speedometer between 80 & 140 mph, and my right arm blocked my view of the warning lights that were on the center console. But it drives like nothing else and you knew you in something special.

Yeah, true sports cars are not about luxury. No power steering, etc... But that's what makes a sports car a sports car. There's nothing like driving a true sports car.

I had a couple of Porsches a few years ago. My first one was a '67 911S. 1967 was the first year that Porsche offered the S model, and it had the biggest engine Porsche offered at the time (160HP). That car was a blast to own, and I sold it in a moment of stupidity. That'll always be for me the car that got away. Here it is with the VW.

I also had a 1984 911 Carrera Cabriolet. It was European spec, so it didn't have a governor on it, and it had other European features like a gas heater and euro lights. That's the car I got rid of to buy my first Nautique. Was it worth it? I think so. I'll have another Porsche someday. Maybe a 356... Yeah, that would work.

Here is my 1923 Buick.

I've also had a 1965 Chevelle SS, a 1968 El Camino, and a 1969 Big Block El Camino.

Very nice, Jeff. The place where I bought my car from specializes in Astons, Ferraris and Porsche. He had a 79 911 Turbo for sale just a couple of months ago that I nearly traded in for. It had around 7000 miles on it. A real time warp they called it. Silver blue with a wild bright blue interior. "Vapor Blue" would not do it justice. I'm going to try to get a pic for you. Nice...

That '57 Speedster that they have is outstanding. I came fairly close to buying one about two years ago. It was a barn find that needed total restoration, but it was very complete and original. It would have made an EXCELLENT restoration candidate. It probably would have turned out about like the one that autosportsdesigns.com has.

i was untill the judge told me i could get away with 6 months probation if i sold them. two weeks to go...........................

i got busted in the 72 911 by a woman state trooper. the 74 914 went also.
my dream car is a 78 beckman brothers 930 with shaved 935 heads that my cousin owns. i just get to drive it a couple times a year and i will own it one day. i'm not much on the short hood models (post '74), but sucking up 2.5 miles a minute is pretty addicting.

Jeff, about your European spec car, I think that makes it have all the more value! How many cars like that do find to begin with, but with specs from out of our country! Doesn't get much nicer!

My dad's car is partially European spec. It is very strange. It is U.S. spec, except most of the car is in German! There are no miles on the car, its all in kilometers. And when a warning light comes on, its in German. when a light is blown, "Brems Licht" comes on. And when Cruise Control is engaged, (which I am starting to refer to as Perfect Pass) a sign with a "Km" in the middle pops up, and so on.

Cars like these and yours are the ones with true value. After all, a lot of value depends on how much of them, or how rare a car is. So think, how many cars like your's and my dad's are there?

My fathers 64 Porsche 356 SC its a pretty cool car.

she takes quite a bit of the boats money though, i think the boat gets jealous...

her history, she was originaly owned by a porsche race car driver, she was given to his nephew (sp), somewhere along the line the engine blew up. Car is all orignal execpept for paint, 3 of its weels, and the engine. But it does have the euro spec SC motor (no seral (sp) #). and my dad is always on the hunt for the original engine....

That's a nice one. I love the exterior color, but the interior is a bit much for me. I used to have a BMW that was the same color as this car's exterior. The color looks better on the 911. I have never been able to figure out why Porsche put rear wipers on some of their cars. It just doesn't look right. That is a beautiful car though!

That is a car to be proud of for sure! You can't ask for much more of a car than that one. 1964...First year of four-wheel disc brakes. An SC...And a REAL SC, not an imposter. AND it is a cabriolet!! That is just about as good as you can get in a 356. For me, that would be just about my dream car. It would be close between a later 356 like that and a Convertible D, but a convertible D, while more rare (one year only), would require giving up some newer functionality like disc brakes, etc...

Oh man, that's a nice car. If he can track down the original engine, there'd be almost no topping that one. I'm sure he's checked with the people of the 356 registry, but if not, check out their site! They've tracked down a few original engines in their day.
www.356registry.org

By the way, I'd love to see some more pictures of that car!

oh, my dad is all over the 356 registry! I think his engine will be really hard to find, no one knows what happened to the original engine. were guessing that the block cracked. Hes stumbled across a few engines on ebay that were with in 15 (cars?) of his. but the hunt continues! I'll post what pics i have, but i really need to take some nice shots of the car. i have quite a few from the night it came home from SC.

as for me, i think if i were getting a 356 i would get a Ruter (sp) coupe. i just love the way thoes cars look. just for any one who doesnt know about the ruter (sp) coupe, Porsche had such a high demand for the coupe that they acctually contracted the people makeing their convertible 356's to do some hard tops. imagine my fathers car only with a solid roof.

Now I know he is just an average teen with an average first car.
