I've been trying to compress the file, but all that happens is that it slows down the comp. so much I usually have to restard, and when it does compress, the file size isn't any smaller... hmm....

I'll try, but it might be too big. I think I max out at 300 Mb. We'll see if I can even receive it through my email.

How big is the file?
I might be able to host it for a while, if is not over the storage limit I have with my web service.
Grant your brother did an awesome job.
In regards to hosting the mp3 on PlanetNautique, it's a pretty big file. We could probably host it for awhile, but a file of that size would burn through our bandwidth pretty quickly. I'll check our options to see what we can offer.

Sorry ti took so long to get back with you
Its a 175 meg single track or I have it broken down into tracks, zipped up 700 meg file. Reason its so big is because its in wave format and you can not use mp3 format when tracking a mixed cd.
So if you want it in MP3 it is gonna come across as 1 large track, with 3 second breaks in it where the new tracks start and stop.

You could make mp3 tracks then download we can download in parts, burn on a cd's w/o breaks between songs and it should work right??

I will be getting FIOS 5mb/2mb next week. I would be willing to p2p through aol, msn, or yahoo messenger if someone wants to send me the file. I could also host it on a friend's website but would limit the daily downloads due to bandwith concerns. Let me know.

175 meg shouldn't be a problem, the single file version. I'm assuming your zipped version is the individual track version and that's why it's larger. Send it over.

Or we could get multiple people to each host one part of the large file. I have 300 MB space with my service.
I am sure that between a few of use we could host the files for lets say a month or so.

Great tunes thanks Grant.
I think I might be able to host one or both of the others on my comcast account.
Like Rod, I can't wait until I hear them in the boat but I think I need to wait until I get my second 12 hooked up or else I will be disappointed...

Hey G-
I assume it would use a lot of bandwidth to host these music files, what avout using something like Limewire to do the work? You would host it from your comp, but you could make it so people can browse your library and pick and choose songs.
You could make up some wierd file name. People would search for it using limewire, then when found they could just hit the "browse host" button to view the rest of the files in your library.
Not sure how safe it is, but I would assume it is. Just a thought, not sure who could afford the bandwidth costs scince you make you files like 700megs!!!
oh by the way, MY CARPET IS IN!!! Jude saw it!!

Luke, Lime wire No thanks. The way I see it. I have the tunes, if some one wants to host to Ill provide the jams. Thats where it stops and start for me. It would be cool if Only PM members could up load and download music. LOL
The rules would be you have to be a good memeber to have the right to download stuff. LOL

A regular cd holds 15 - 18 songs.... mp3 songs are 3 - 4 megs each. So 80 megs will give you 80 mins worth of tunes.... If you squish the tunes down it would be much easier to host or swap tunes.
ag4ever
05-10-2005, 12:38 PM
With Grant's setup, I bet he could hear the loss in sound quality when they are squished down too much in mp3 form.
And he did let you choose the wave form (700 mb) or the mp3 (175 mb) with the last download.
The 175 meg mp3 was about 75 minutes, and that would be about the lowest quality I personally would want to give or recieve the music at.
Grant_West
05-10-2005, 01:58 PM
256 KB is the Lowest that I would run. Any lower than that I notice a differance in sound quality.
Wave is the best but is so large downloading it can be a problem.
Any one have any music that they want to share trade

Really, with the wind, engine, and sobriety issues? I listen to XM most of the time. It is nice to have a new mix of music that someone has put some time into. Thanks! If I had it... I would send it. I am still waiting for my FIOS to be installed. When it is, I will be able to upload at 2 mbs.

I have been listening to that mix for the past two days. Great work music as well ;) So where are the other mixes? Can you either set them up for download or maybe even e-mail them to me? Wish I had the skills to put that stuff together...
