View Full Version : Perfect Pass holding speed below 23 on SAN

I have an 03 super Air and I've been messing with PP the past week.
The problem I have is that PP won't hold speed at anything below 23 MPH.
I've done all the obvious troubleshooting things, throttle linkage, KDW, NN settings at both extremes.
It'll hold speed at 23 with or without rider no problem. At 22 with our without rider it tends to surge and overshoot and undershoot the setting.
Anybody have any suggestions or is it a paddle wheel placement issue?

I haven't had this particular issue, but the guys at Perfect Pass have been more than helpful when I have called them on problems in the past. I don't know their number off the top of my head, but you can get it at www.perfectpass.com.

I'd call the guys at Perfect Pass and explain your problem to them. Did you add PP after you bought your boat or was it there from the factory? If you added it afterwards, you might have a paddlewheel placement issue. Good luck!

I hear that is a common problem for Correct Craft. What type of PP do you have? For the SAN, I have heard people complain about the WB Pro not being able to hold the speed real well but I have the Digital Pro, and do not have a problem.

I have read to up the KDW to 80 and the NN to 180, then start tuning it in from there.

Rumor has it that this was a result of the PP paddle wheel be too close to the intake great for the ballast system, and or some wiring issues with the center ballast tank. The guys from Ambush/Buywake had the local Georgia dealer, Watersports Central, fix theirs and it works well. The evidently changed the intake grate, and rewired the center ballast tank and that fixed the problem. Another friend of mine has a 02 that we have been tinkering with the PP for over 2 years and have never gotten it right. I have a 01 Super Air with Wakeboard Pro and mine is great. Must have something to do with the changes they made for 02.

It was mentioned on another board that his PP paddle wheel was just a bit out of alignment in relation to the keel. He mentioned to make sure it was pointing straight forward. He repositioned his and it fixed his particular problem. Not sur if it will help in this case but would not hurt to check.

The problem is the center ballast pickup. The pickup disturbs the water in front of the paddle. The solution is to change the pickup to a flush pikup. I will be fixing wakejunky's boat next week :D

Chris,

after being in your boat at shasta I asked my buddy with a promo boat about your issue. He said the new PP software forces it to use the paddle under a certain speed. It will work better if you force it to use RPM based speed, maybe wakeboard R mode?

Call me if you have more questions.

I have had the center ballast intake cover replaced on my 02 sante. It made a lot of difference. PP specs say to install the paddlewheel on the port side just in front of the rear ballast intakes. they didn't take into consideration that on the team editions that there was a thru hull in front of the paddle wheel. I thought that the easiest fix would be to move the PW to the starboard side as there is nothing to impede the flow of water...... that was too easy so they went with a new flush mount thru hull up there..... had to tweak the KDW and NN settings too. KDW 80 NN 180 and go from there. CC will replace the center ballast intake cover under warranty. If you have any questions I suggest calling Gary @ PP. He helped me a lot.

Take your boat into the dealer and it will be fixed under warranty. They will install a low profile intake on it.
