I am completely redoing the stereo in my 97 sport. I have $1500 to put towards tower speakers, what is the best bet for clarity without sacrificing power or midrange bass?

RE: Tower Speakers
depends on what you want out of your tower speakers really. Ive researched this and i think the general consensus on tower speakers that just project sound to the boat are the ones with MB Quart speakers in them; but if you want sound to go all the way back to the rider and have it loud and clear at 60-80 feet go with an HLCD speaker set up. Either WetSounds or NVS provide a solid HLCD set up. you can always replace the boat speakers with MB Quarts or other speakers to get a better in boat set up. A good amp to power the audio system will make or break the tower speakers imho. be sure that you dont go spending all your green on really really high quality speakers and buy a terrible amp. but best of luck i wish i had 15 grand to upgrade my audio system with.

I have heard lots of different setups. I use my tower speakers to project sound to the rider. If this is your intention I would say the WetSounds Pro-485s are probably the best/easiest solution.
Here are mine (new Polk style grills are coming this week, watch for pix).

NVS has some serious power to them and sound great, the price is right around what you are looking to spend.Neuston Boards
