2005 SAN Stock stereo power source is low voltage

i have a 2005 SAN with the dual battery switch (forgot the name). I have found that when I crank the volume louder, my 12 vdc power source drops to 9-10 volts. This causes the stock Clarion amplifiers to burn up the input capasitor. Which ruins the amplifier. I have measured the voltage at the battery, and at the amplifier. While the battery voltage is at a solid 12 volt, the input of amplifier is 9-10 volts. I have disassembled the switch to measure the voltage, and it is the same as the battery. in fact, i have repositioned the stereo power cable from the the switch output to the battery input, and nothing changes. this leads me to believe the voltage drop is happening across the fuse assembly.

If your boat is like my 2004 SANTE the wire gauge is to small and is causing the drop. There is some good info on how to figure out what gauge you need at the link below. Also, as wire ages and corrodes it can lose capacity. Note that you should use the 3% chart for stereo and use the round trip length, positive plus ground wire length. https://www.westmarine.com/WestAdvis...e-And-Ampacity

Another great system designer that can give you estimates for fuses as well: http://www.bcae1.com/images/swfs/sys...nassistant.swf
