Hey, just curious if there are any updates here? We just got a 2013 G25 and would like to have Bluetooth because we can't seem to get the CMD8 to play anything from Android phones. I talked with the place where the boat came from and they don't have any software updates for LINC - they would just install the M606 and if it works, it works. Is that what happened for everyone else?

Bevostein Also, I am looking on Crutchfield, there was nothing extra that needed to be purchased? And you can't confirm if there was anything on the LINC side that needed to be updated with the M606? The dealership I am talking with doesn't have any sort of an update for the M606 and doesn't know if it will work, just a "maybe it will." But they said the CMDs had special software on them so they didn't think it would work with the M606.

Since the CMD8 has an AUX input, a universal blue tooth will work. Wet Sounds offers three models that will work. Just note, these are universal BT units and only interface through a audio only input, no data so you wont see the track display on the LINC.

The M606 was plug and play. Nothing extra to buy besides the head unit. Easy swap.

As for LINC updates for the M606, I didn't do anything special. I always ask my dealer to make sure I have the latest LINC release whenever I take it in for service. Beyond that nothing special was done to get the M606 to work.

              Great thread guys
I just updated mine with a m606 and it was a straight plug n play
Bluetooth works awesome and linc all works. No reflash required
              Tracks show on Linc screen

Your 07 remote is likely the retired 6-pin cable and the M606 is the new generation 8-pin. Not compatible. There is a 6 to 8 pin adapter, however, you do not retain display and all functions.

Just swapped the M606 in on my '13 G23 and it drops in perfect and LINC and rear remote works perfect. One issue that I don't think there is a solution to is the zone control. While the M606 is capable of having the towers on their own zone the LINC has no intelligence for controlling both zones, and even when you link the zones together on the headunit so they move in tandem when spinning the volume knob, the remotes (LINC and transom) still only control one at a time. This makes the LINC auto volume control essentially useless so I was pretty bummed about that. Looks like I'll be cheating the fader with towers on fronts instead of the tower zone. Stoked to have Bluetooth but I might still end up with the wetsounds EQ to get more granular zone control while maintaining the LINC auto volume. 2018 models keep looking more enticing...

I'm considering replacing the head unit in my 2013 G23 with a M606 to add Bluetooth to the boat. Can anyone confirm that the M606 is compatible with the newest IPhone updates (I've read that the M606 isn't compatible with the latest updates). Now I'm wondering if the Wetsounds WS-420bt is a better option. Adding true zone control and the PA would be great. I'm not sure how well the Bluetooth in the WS-420 will work with Linq.. I'd really like to maintain full Linq 2.0 compatibility. Any advice is appreciated.

Clarion's site should be able to confirm what OS the M606 is compatible with, but just note, the M606 has been retired and replaced with the M608.

"how well the bluetooth in the 420 will work with the link". There will not be any integration between the link and a device like the WS-420. You will not have any audio controls through the link any more.

Rather then the 420BT, Id consider the WS-220BT for its 4-zone volume control.

The BT in the wet sounds is very good. Its 4.0 with AptX, which is about the latest going.

I have a 2013 G23 and the M606. The iPhone cable is essentially useless for us, it worked when I first installed so maybe it’s a defect that I’ve been too lazy to troubleshoot. When I plug in an iPhone the deck goes into “file read” and won’t do anything. So basically I traded a wired connection for wireless- which I’m fine with. The entire linq controls work perfect except when I change volume the linq display doesn’t tell me the number of the volume level. Also I was stoked to get zone control for the towers vs interior but the linq volume controls will only manage the last adjusted zone which was annoying because we rely on the auto volume and so we went back to cheating the fade to make the towers louder and interiors lower. I have the wet sounds eq in a box waiting to install but will be keeping the m606 connection for the linq control. Hope that helps!

MLA thanks for the information. This definitely isn't my area of expertise. Do you know if the M608 is compatible with the linq system on my 2013 G23. I don't want to lose Linq integration. Thanks again for your help.

Lyzer - Thanks for the information. Based on my limited research, the wet sounds control units appear to be the best method to control zones and volume.

I have a M606 in my 2013 G25. I can tell you that from my standpoint the M606 is compatible.

I can tell you how I use it. The M606 has all the same inputs or sources as the stock Clarion plus a BT Audio source and a Pandora app source. The sources that it share in common with the stock headhunt function the exact same. FM, AM, Aux etc are the exact same. The BT audio source can be paired with your phone. Once paired on your phone you can launch Pandora, Spotify, any other music app or start iTunes. The skip forward or skip backward buttons on the Linc screen will advance you forward or backward one song in all these apps. The mute button will pause the playback. Other than the volume buttons that all the options on the Linc screen and really all that you need in my opinion. Also while on the BT Audio input the Linc screen will scroll the artist, song and album info.

The M606 also has a dedicated bluetooth Pandora input or source for connectivity to Pandora. It has some sort of integration where if you are using the head unit you can navigate among stations, thumbs up and thumb down songs and otherwise control your Pandora app. Obviously this input is of little use on the Linc. I can sometime get Pandora to play using this source but its buggy. I can play Pandora just fine using the BT Audio input so I don't use it. Using the BT Audio input I just have to launch the station on my phone and then its good to go and controllable on the Linc.

The zone control on mine is wired with the fade method. I had my dealer install and thats the way they set it up. I wanted to try to use the zone system in it but at the end of the day it pretty much accomplishes the same thing and I haven't bothered to rewire it. You would not be able to adjust zones from the LINC anyway. You would have to open the glovebox and mess with it just like using fade.

The best way to describe the compatibility is to say that the LINC will control everything on the M606 exactly like the stock head unit plus you have two Bluetooth sources to choose. One (BT Audio) works great and the Linc controls it. The other (dedicated Pandora input) has features that came after Linc and therefore that input doesn't really work that well and is not worth messing with

Finally, I think you asked about iPhone compatibility. I have an iPhone 8 running the latest 11.3.1 software and it works great.
