My 1990 SN had a non-working cheap stereo in it when I got it. Once I pulled all of the components out I realized that there was only a positive-red and negative-black wire running to the stereo head unit. My question is, where do I tap into a "switched" wire? Where would this wire be located(component it is hooked up to) and what color should it be? There is an illumination wire in the harness, is there a corresponding wire for that as well?

RE: 1990 SN Stereo Wiring Help
The switched wire would go right to the ACCESSORY 1 or 2 breaker. The constant 12V power should go right to the battery with a decent gauge wire (with inline fuse), as should the ground. Just my recommendation. You don't want to put too much draw through the dash. I don't know about the illumination wire on the stereo- I'd just connect it to the switched power I suppose.

I should add that you can probably put the ground to the LED indicator next to the ACCESSORY switch which terminates at the ground for the dash.
