Orlando. Gladly pay ya a bit for shipping. Will a small amount fit in an envelope? I just need enough to make a few spares. I have a remote for the transom to install as well. Thanks!

We had some time available to work this out. We have a light-muting circuit plus a switch to select between 'day' and 'night' operation. This way you will have the full brightness in harsh daylight, especially when the sun is a bit behind you. You can select between one of three marine 15-amp switches...a toggle switch with a protective boot, a standard rocker switch or a contoured switch. You will cut and splice in one location near the remote illumination supply. Detailed instructions are included. Cost is 49.95 less the 10 percent forum discount.

What will you charge to install it for those of us that are very mechanically challenged?Originally posted by EarmarkMarine View PostWe had some time available to work this out. CC216,
Maybe 15 minutes labor to cut, splice, solder and heatshrink (so $15.00). I'm not sure about what is involved and how much to locate a switch. That will vary with each boat. It's
normally not possible to get any more accurate until we take a peek at the particular boat.
Also, I'm sure we will have a more basic option for those boats that already have an unused SPST up to a DPDT switch in the dash.

Clarion response
So here is Clarion's response to me in an email, after inquiring about the remote brightness issue. No help at all, as I figured.
"Unfortunately there is not a way to adjust the brightness of the backlight on the display of the CMRC1-BSS. The design on our 2009 and up model year remotes is slightly different and may fit your needs. You should contact your boat dealer in order to determine your options."
Thank you

Shag,
No Worries. We've already engineered a solution and its on our website on-line store. Look in the remote controls section.

Hi Earmark,
I saw your kit, and while it is a novel idea, I have a problem with paying any more than the $$$ I have already spent. Clarion is now saying the newer MW1's are dimmer because of this issue. Just seems that for what you pay for these things . . . . . . Sorry for the rant.
Thanks, Mike

Yes Mike, but their solution to the newer remote controls may render less daylight effectiveness, particularly when the sun is overhead or behind you. Then we'll have to devise a plan to increase the voltage and brighten the display. Without a problem there is no solution for us to capitalize on...know what I mean?
